    Question Reign of Madness?

Update 10 is live, but its not availiable to premium players for 2 days. So how is it folks, does it rawk? Does it suck? What levels is it for? Hows the loot? XP?

    My take...

The quests are level 17 with one level 20 (I think...)

The xp is modest, about right for how long the quests take. Its not going to be on anyone's leveling rotation.

The loot is not bad. I liked the items I got so far, more stuff that is very good, fun, but not exactly drool educing for anyone farming raids and epics. Better that 80% of other ddo quests though. (on par with the last 3-5 packs loot offerings)

Story wise the quests are lots of fun. They have some new and cool environs and music and such. Each has some nice hidden goodies. There is quite a bit of absurdist humor in the adventures. If you like your quests super serious... not so good, if you like your adventure tongue in cheek, great stuff.

I like the first quest in the series the best, it was a blast first time through. Just straight up fun. The other three were good, but not quite as innovative. The monsters you fight are cool to look at and the environments are great. The NPCs are pretty fun to dialog with. There is really little to complain about design wise.

The only thing that struck me was how easy they were. Even the end fights felt pretty trivial. I ran them with my 18 cleric, and my wife's 18 monk tank and she brought a cleric hireling. The hiriling died a couple times but overall the quests were a cake walk on normal. We were a bit over level so I suppose that's not a shocker and I suspect elite ramps up the challenge a bit. Still, it felt like the critters were just a bit weaker than they should have been. If you like a challenge, dial these ones up a notch or two, if you just want to romp, then they are great for that.

Summary: Go for the funny story and cool visuals, repeat for the loot. But the hard core may find it a less than filling meal.

As far as loot goes it is rather "ho-hum" unless you are a caster.

Casters though should farm The Lord of Eyes till they get a scepter with Combustion 8 or Glaciation 8. Probably the easiest method of attaining the two.

Little info on the beholder plate - The wiki states that it comes with telekinesis guard, however mine dropped with Disintegration Guard instead. Dont know if it just comes with a random guard or if I got a very very lucky bug on mine.

*snicker* You really should try it on elite then. It is an eye opener.

ran it on normal last night with friends. Some of these are wacked out and fun, especially the one in the Delirium building.

From the end reward of the chain, I got a (can't post it because i'm not at my normal DDO computer) fun item for my quarterstaff horc - a QS with Greater Abberation Bane, Sunburst and +4 to AC. Oh and it's densewood, I believe. It may have situational uses. We'll see. Won't replace any GS or epic items, but should be fun!

Also there were a bunch of new weird (I think crafting?) ingredients that drop in there.

The new collectable drops are used to unlock powers from many of the items dropped in the series.

Ran the chain last night on my lvl 19 SD intimitank. Didn't look it up ahead of time...

Interestingly, I never lost aggro after intimidating the Lord of Eyes. Most, and sometimes all, of my dmg did not bypass his DR. I think the highest base dmg I did was 17 Don't know what his intim is... I had 70+ intim when we fought him. I didn't have much time to swap bastard swords on him, I used either a T2 GS (holy) or metalline/good.

Anyone know what he's resistant to? I haven't looked at the lammia thread for info on him yet.

    I pulled the warhammer ... eh ...

Can't wait to try the handwraps on my monk. It's handwraps like these that make me wish I wasn't a dark monk...

I think I solved the Fred puzzle... it blew up.

All in all, it was a fun chain with nice rewards. Plan to do it again.
