Having a plat for tp swap in game?
I'm not so sure its a good idea.

Why? for starters, having an overabundance of plat sinks isnt a good idea I think
Everytime a new update hits, it seems like a new plat sink is added to the game.
Least, it seems that way to me
Constant drains on pp can drain pp out of the game quickly - ships, shrines, crafting, gear, etc...
Overall though, some plat does have to be left in the game, otherwise, all the traditional sinks could breakdown, like the ah.
Maybe there will come a time when Turbine does allow this, but I seriously doubt it.
Eeveryone would be farming plat for TP instead of spending cash on tp bundles. So i highly doubt it would fly.

I think a far better idea for a plat sink is to charge for any and all PvP related content.

You want to jump in the pit? Plat.
Want to do red vs blue? Plat.
Brag in general chat about PvP? Plat.

a better idea for a plat. sink is to sell houses/castles. with the cost of the houses and the cost of paying your house servants, castle defenders.

i would think anyone or guild could buy a house or castle. obviously the guilds will be able to buy things faster. you also need furnishings for your dwelling.

How about turning in plat for Turbine Points? Keep the exchange rate high, though..

1,000,000pp = 100 TP.
10,000pp = 1 TP.

No. This sounds way to much like those japanese F2P games, and we all know how well those turn out...

Also, the new plat sink has allready been implemented, its called Cannith Crafting. By deconstructing randomly generated loot, the typical player looses a huge portion of their DDO income.

ive got a great, tried and true, plat sink.
Lets create in DDO two new programs and mandate everyone fund it. The first we will call Care. Now, it works like this. You level 20 toons have to pay 50% of your DDO income to fund others healing, training, equipment replacement, etc,, Additionally you send in another 24% for DDO Security.. baasically its for ddo to care for the toons you no longer want to play with or u delete.

Plus every transaction you have in DDO you quarterly have to send in your records about your expenses, your income, some deductions and credits, and then pay PLAT to DDO to fund a better, cleaner, safer, fairer game. Plus we need to get the game really great and authorise Turbine to borrow significant money from WoW so they can make this a happy place without hardship.....

If Turbine wants to remove all plat from the game, they can implement casinos. The house always wins.

Of course, gambling already exists in that one tavern in the harbour, but the stakes are pretty low.

This one really is a no-brainer on how much it would effect the finances of Turbine and DDO survivability.

How much plat has been removed from grinding down trash loot into essence as opposed to selling them to vendors on my haggle bot?

I've had to start limiting what I deconstruct so I can maintain a level of income for repairs, pots, ammo & components! I vendor anything that isn't a 3,4 or 5th level essence. On top of that I started working on a greensteel item and you have to charge those depleted cells with weapons of +6,7,8(iirc) items and that takes a bite on your vendor junk list too.

Haggle Bards should unionize, their jobs are in jeopardy!

Crafting can be done almost for free if you only craft from essences you find.

I realize it would go faster if you deconstruct to get essences too, but this makes it a pretty weak plat sink IMO.
