Good for you. You have to learn somehow.
I am getting up there and close (16th level) to start running Shroud with my Cleric.

The Fockers of Argo
LOOON (Rogue); Reaperbait (Warlock); Eatuhdiq (Sorc); Fuglymofo (Barbarian)
Buttscracher (Arty), Hobaggin (Druid)
Nothing wrong at all with trying a new tactic.
To make sure something like that works, I'd recommend (as others have):
1. Enough hp. Definitely over 400, preferrably 450+. Healing amp helps as well.
2. Quicken. A must-have.
3. Superior ardor VI clicky (and if/when you can, a crafted superior brilliance V clicky for those DP's you squeeze off in between heals)
4. Use of mass cures/heals when needed -- don't make the mistake of relying solely on aura/bursts, if they aren't getting it done
5. Fire damage mitigation -- firestorm greaves, umd fire shield scrolls, cloak of ice, etc.
Above all else, communication with the other healer(s) / party members about your intentions.

I have 2 different divine casters. Good on you for learning how to play your guy...
My 20 FVS climbs in and melees with the best of um using mas cures to cover the other healers gaps. If I'm solo healing or with a weak seconadary I stand out and mass cure mod and mass heal.
Cleric 20 I always stand back and heal.
gear you are looking for:
Sup dev 8 clickies
healing lore items - there are a few of these
argo faction for the 10HP
toughness enhancemtns and about 450-500 HP
ect...
You'll also like having 450+ HP for running epics as well. Chain lightning in eVON6 is brutal on the HP bar
The more you play the more you'll understand where you need to be how it should work and what you need to do for each given raid. I was outside the group and a swarm got through and blasted me in the face, at the time I had 362 HP and dropped in 1 shot.
Even playing correctly there are times where **** happens.
We had two really crazy things happen in Shroud yesterday. First I was part of a group farming doing 3 runs. First two no problem. Third time in part two our timing was fouled up and everything kept respawning over and over. We finally did a mass recall and split. Second thing I was in a group to finish last night and even though I don't have a small shard I went back to the first alter to craft some stuff. Next thing I know the three of us start taking damage at the alter and I get zapped with an instakill spell with no death block on from a beholder someone had summoned that was on the loose in there. Didn't know they would even do that.
you tried your best the best you thought you could...so what it did not work...what the party should have learned was...hum just how important you WERE perhaps. !!! just a thought.
