If you invite people to your ship who spam the Looking for Group system with "Need T3 Altar", then their reason for spamming has been justified.
In the not-for-profit industry, I've always been stunned at how myopic people can be about the mailings they receive. Apart from the postage, these mailers are sent out because they can be done cheaply. Part of the donation you make to the company sending the mailing does indeed go to the not-for-profit whose trademark is on the envelope. The rest goes to the company your not-for-profit has contracted with to do the mailing.
So you receive a plaintive appeal for a donation for a worthy cause. You cringe at the sight of the picture and dutifully mail in $15.00. The mailer receives your check and mails $5.00 to Save the Wails and keeps the other $10.00 for its 'expenses.' If it can produce 1500 mailings for that $10.00, then it only needs a successful response rate of less than one in a hundred for business success.
If someone gets their desired invite to a ship for having spammed LFM, it will continue, despite my complaints. Maybe some of you aren't old enough to be sick of mailings dunning you for this or that Cause, but it's a scam. Stop playing, please.
