Default We love spam. . .

If you invite people to your ship who spam the Looking for Group system with "Need T3 Altar", then their reason for spamming has been justified.

In the not-for-profit industry, I've always been stunned at how myopic people can be about the mailings they receive. Apart from the postage, these mailers are sent out because they can be done cheaply. Part of the donation you make to the company sending the mailing does indeed go to the not-for-profit whose trademark is on the envelope. The rest goes to the company your not-for-profit has contracted with to do the mailing.

So you receive a plaintive appeal for a donation for a worthy cause. You cringe at the sight of the picture and dutifully mail in $15.00. The mailer receives your check and mails $5.00 to Save the Wails and keeps the other $10.00 for its 'expenses.' If it can produce 1500 mailings for that $10.00, then it only needs a successful response rate of less than one in a hundred for business success.

If someone gets their desired invite to a ship for having spammed LFM, it will continue, despite my complaints. Maybe some of you aren't old enough to be sick of mailings dunning you for this or that Cause, but it's a scam. Stop playing, please.

Personally I think users abusing the LFM system should get a vacation for a few days. Trying to buy/sell gear, begging for guild ship invites or trying to guild recruit isn't what the LFM system is for.

I hate shroud..... I hate every single beating on those stupid portals, if there is a way for me to craft something without farming and going in quest I would do it! I think I only have 1 character with about 60 runs.... and I have been around for a long time..... Maybe people just don't wanna run it or are on timer eh?

what if ive been told categoricly by an officer from a specific guild that i may use their ship any time I want, i just have to ask.

This case in point, I was told on more than one occasion that i may use the crafting facilities of the guild defenders air ship, just need to ask. I was told this by officers of this guild.

Is using the lfm system wrong in this case? Personaly id say no, Said guild has already made the offer.

Ultimately the LFM or social panel is there for any one looking to form a group for any reason - it isnt quest specific.
Ive always thought of it as the DDO equivalent of pen and paper d&d adverts on the tavern notice board.

What it needs is more filters - one for quests, one for trading, and one for non quest party.

ps: any defenders readin this tell yer dang guild leader to check his mail box.

Use the "Who" Panel to find people in that guild that are on and send a tell.

Using the LFM panel for trades, ship invites, etc. is considered spam.
