Yeah, I'll go with "Mr. June 2010" over "Mr. Dec 2006 Who Apparently Hasn't Been Playing for the Past Few Months".

Credibility is in what you say and do, not what timestamp your forum account has.

A Silver Falchion is obviously worth something to many people. Not a ton, but certainly more than what a vendor will give.
    Ok Mr. October 2009.

Only use this falchion has is deconstructing it to have the base silver on it.

Sold to a very generous player, for more than I asked in this thread. I hope it kills a lot of monsters and bosses

Well Mr. 2006, I guess the market spoke and a silver blank does happen to be worth A LOT more to players than to vendors.

I agree it is worth more to a person than it is to a vendor, but it is not something I would ask 200kpp for...

And just because someone generous decided to buy this falchion for more than 200k doesn't mean it is worth that much. It just means someone with plat to spare decided to help a new player.

Actually, that's exactly what it means.

You would not pay very much for a silver weapon; that's fair. It may not be worth very much plat to you; for example, you may already have all of the silver weapons you want, or you may not be leveling up crafting at all, or you may have good DR breakers already, or you may not have very much plat. The problem is, just as your valuations are subjective and personal to your circumstances, so are everyone elses. The only objective measure of value is whether a transaction actually occurs and someone is actually able to sell the item for the designated price, since statements of preference or intent are irrelevant (a person demonstrates that they honestly think something is worth x by actually buying/selling it at that price).

    Eh, it's no "Hi Welcome".

Is there some kind of argument here or are you just stating the obvious? Does that argument also apply to Silver-studded handwraps, which are also only useful for deconstruction to have the base silver on them?

Many valuable things are useful only for one purpose. Epic Scrolls, FRDS, etc. The question is how useful that one purpose is. And crafting a good Pit Fiend beater is quite useful to a lot of people. I probably wouldn't spend 200k on it, either, but it's certainly worth more than the peanuts a vendor would give.

Which apparently, you agree with now, so I'm glad you changed your mind.

I'm looking for a silver falchion on Sarlona, and would willingly pay 150k-200kish if it had a cool skin. Yes, I am indeed that vain.

Glad you got a good price for it
