Why would professionally created software have this issue? It's so odd. It should be signed properly shouldn't it? I don't know much about signing but it looks like just one particular part hasn't been signed?

Here is the behaviour I'm seeing:

1st client running happily VIP account.
Go to start 2nd prem client and get that warning.
Say no and then get prompt from Turbine allowing to make changes on my harddrive to which I say yes.
For some odd reason a third client starts and gives the same Turbine prompt (lol) to which I also say yes but at the same time this crazy microsoft survey starts up : https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...s.aspx?id=5638
I then kill a client - I think the 3rd one - and the 2nd continues to start up happily.

Win 10. Haven't restarted my machine for a while but will log off clients.

Odd Good to know this alarming message is from DDO and not some other virus

So just a note. I went to Microsoft web site downloaded and installed this C++ redistributable. I then stopped getting the prompt/message.

What this means is Turbine is trying to install software, security is preventing it. Either Turbine needs rights to install (Not a safe option) or we need to take the extra step and install the software ourselves (Getting it from a reliable source that is)

"Turbine" and "security" are mutually exclusive

    this is true:

If you get any sort of warning message it is, as has been stated in other posts, probably the result of Vista/Win7 UAC interference and may be safely ignored.

this is ALSO true, but in this case its pretty safe bet they just messed up on it being properly signed, much like the forums didnt have proper certificate for, oh, idk, 2 years, 3 years? its embarassing but not malicious ...
