I've heard the same thing on live, from multiple people, that it was going to be 3d10 and have righteous added. From the start on lam it's the same, and throwing it into the epic alter with 3 tokens (same way you upgrade other stuff to newer versions) nothing changed.
So it appears at this point the "update" to it is purely talk/bs unless there's some other way to upgrade items.

Looks like it might be all upgraded in Update 11 since Update 10 is still on lama ~

The upgrade is real but is not happening yet. I doubt it will happen until Gensai comes up with upgrades everyone would enjoy for every item that isnt living up to epic standards.

It is getting an upgrade, it just hasnt happened yet. Here is what the Devs have posted the upgrade to be.
Epic Antique Greataxe: Added Righteousness, increased base damage to 3d10, re-added Adamantine property (which was replaced by Metalline for the Epic version). I realize that the +5 Holy Burst of Greater X Bane weapons that will be possible to make through the crafting system offer this weapon some serious competition, but I'm content for it to stand somewhere between a Min II and the best of the best crafted weapons, which is where I believe this will put it.
Hargrave 20 Pally 1/2ling * Saraph 20 N Human Clr * Azureflame 14/2 CG WF Wiz/Rog * Grimstone 12/2/6 CG Dwf Rgr/ftr/Barb * Ebinn 17/3 Clr/Pally Dwf * Settsu 20 Dwf Monk LN * Nythh 8 Fvs Lg Human * Krisi 20 Sorc Drow LG * Cinderblok 6/12/2 Rgr/Ftr/Mk WF LG
re-added Adamantine property (which was replaced by Metalline for the Epic version)
My question is..... does "replaced" mean that Metalline is gonna be replaced by Adamantine, resulting in this weapon not breaking DR? They do continue to say that it should fall between minII and crafted, so I would think it would retain its Ada and GAIN Metalline.
Thoughts?
Genasai said it would Be Metalline of Righteousness. Hes adding adamantine back to its material type so its hardness/durability is Adamantine like the non epic version. For some reason when upgrading the axe to epic currently its material type was turning to steel instead of adamantine, giving it a serious durability problem compared to the original. This will be fixed in the new version.

Ah sweet.
I have the shard, seal and scroll.
Will it be repaired to the new form or should I wait to craft it?

It retains Metalline, as confirmed by Gensai later in the thread. It's just getting Adamantine in addition.
The specific Adamantine property is the metal type. Because the current epic version is not classed as Adamantine, it has a lower hardness than the level 5 version, and wears down a lot faster than it should.
I recently saw in the dev tracker the links to the two threads about the carnival and sentinels upgrades to epic items.
However the dev didn't said if it is gonna be for u10 (unlikely), for u11 (hopefully) or further this year or next year.
Nice... I managed to get my Epic Antique Greataxe built before I bought the Carnival pack. LOL
Nice to see it get a good upgrade.
Personally why I understand it's an epic GA and needs some perks to it ... what I do not understand is why they have such a weapon comming from the most unepic of epics?
In otherwords they should be poising some love to the countless other weapons comming out of the more epic of epics like the desert and not the so-called epics which happen to be the easiest quests in the game.

The Desert has 64 items, and Genasi has been pretty busy on other things. Looking over 64 items is going to take some time.
IMO the eAG will be at the most sensible power level it could be after this upgrade - a modest upgrade from the Shroud equivalent, as it comes from content that is a fair step up in difficulty from Shroud (but far from difficult for veterans).
Personally I'm looking forward to some of the awful items in that pack becoming reasonable. I've been running Epic Small Problem more than ever before now.
I don't have a zerging problem.
I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.
According to the epic pass threads they'll be revisiting one pack at a time.
First is going to be Carnival, then Sentinels. No point in looking further into the future so soon, but i imagine Sands is not third in line.
Wether epics get revamped by then is up for speculation, but regardless of the quests it'd be good to give all those items some love.
