    Arrow Mvp!

In quests, we should gain in-quest points that revert back to 0 upon exiting.

These points can total up. Kills, healing, crowd control, damage, trap disabling, secret doors found, etc...

They can all give so-much credit toward's the player's MVP status.

Upon quest completion, their name should appear with a medal, sticker, and cookie showing they were the MVP.

Everybody has an epeen, whatever that is. And, it could encourage people to contribute their best!

Thanks for your suggestion, I'm sure this will be taken up for consideration at the next possible moment.

    Have a great day.

    Was that acceptable T?

You see in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

It doesn't count things like healing and buffing...both vital in many cases, and both not registered or counted by computer.

Also, the count does not reflect tactics. If you Hero a boss, while the rest of the party kills trash mobs, (Thinking HoX here) so you are NOT an MVP?

YOu can't do this and make it fair. My old 28pt low STR pally practically solo'd Velah at level, but if you look at the kill count, he didn't even have one kill. BUT without him, the party would have wiped. (LOOOONNGGG Story, but a good one!) Is he the MVP? many of the people of that party thought so.

Also, how do you quantify crowd control? Number of mobs held? Danced? Stuck in a web? Stunned? Tripped? Dazed? Paralyzed? Intimidated? Diplo'd? Fascinated? Charmed? Commanded? Greater Commanded? Blinded? Stat brought to 0?

Do you count buffs? How many blurs were handed out? Resists? Hastes? Jumps? Poison resists?

Do you count how many potions a person drinks(haste/rage/heroism/barkskin etc)? How many scrolls they use? How many wand charges?

You all posted some pretty good points so far. I thought into it a bit more and the difficulty to implement as well as the tanking thing made me agree it's probably a bad idea. But, a fix for the tanking idea while other people do equal DPS to trash mobs and gain kill points etc. would be receiving points for holding boss-aggro.

And how do you do that? How do you reward the cleric who was healing the Hero? How do you reward the bard who fasinated the trash mobs making them easy kills? How about those who buff?

Now we are getting into program time. For what? A flower by our name? The party knows who didthe work or not. We don't need the world to know too. At th e end of the day, it's a story we tell what our party did, not who won the flower.

Well, the action is sent from client-to-server anyway and shows in our combat logs.. but anyway I already dismissed the idea. It would be too difficult.

It is not possible to quantify contribution in this game.

    Seriously, it really isn't - don't try.

At the end of any given quest let the participants vote for MVP (this option could be toggled off through options). That player then gets to wear a bright orange MVP hat for the next quest. No you can't toggle it off, everyone gets to see how awesome people think you are. For extra giggles have the hat attract extreme aggro, but only of annoying mobs like air elementals, rust monsters and oozes.

oh dear.... RPG, and especially DDO shouldn't be about measuring e-peens but about cooperating.
As such things that offer any kind of measurement shouldn't be there.

So here is my suggestion remove all those silly details like kill counts, number of traps disabled, number of barrel bashed that would be great... just keep the bonuses, when the thresholds are reached.
Half of the contributions are already not measured ( raised people, hit points healed, traps avoided because the rogue saw it but didn't disarm it, .... ) so no point in keeping the rest measured.

I give you points for courage and the attempt OP, but something about this concept I think will be utter failure no matter how creative you look.

    youd need a counter for holds/buffs/stuns/tactics/positioning/aggro drawing/tanking/healing/sp conservation for tight moments/ dps/ damage recieved/ damage dealt in total/ fascinations/ commands/ cometfalls/ well placed kills on key mobs/ etc.etc.etc.

there are too many factors to implement something that is essentially an epeen enhancing tool

i have a better but flawed mvp mechanism, its called "the people who ran the quest with you"
adversity is something we face every day - for a true test, give someone power

This type of thing is far too subjective, too computation intensive ("laggggg..."), too divisive ("I'm MVP so I'm better than you"), and too far from the feel of a "normal" DnD campaign.

    Sorry.
