perhaps the bonus kills xp could be split according to the number of kills. ie if you kill nothing you dont get any of that xp.

what i found disconcerting is, the idea that that mage didnt contribute just because he has no kills to his name. there he is throwing fireballs damaging all the bad guys, the tanks finish them off and he gets a big zero for kills, so he didnt do his part.
You do realize you just contradicted yourself there, right? The Wizard doing the bulk of the damage to the mobs is actually the Wizard doing his part. Just because some guy with a blade comes in and cleaves them all to death doesn't mean they (casters) didn't do their job. So it's up to the Wizard to exploit the cleaving/glancing blows so that at the very last possible second they throw a big explosive concoction into the mass of mobs and collect all the kills because the melee wasn't "doing his job"...
Fail.

Shows you really have no clue what AD&D was really all about. Rogues get bonuses for their skill usage, which is often applied to the whole party in a matter of fairness. Each member has their role to play and their particular subset of skills & abilities which should (although sometimes it doesn't) mesh together in a cohesive matter so that the group is rewarded for their actions as a whole. Not that there is no I in teamwork. If you need another anecdote like this, I can think of several off the top of my head, none of which are safe for forums.
I would actually like to see MORE information... Total damage/healing output... damage taken, hits landed, hits taken, spells cast... Dude, knowledge is power so anything is ++ is my book.
I know it would breed more ePeen contests, but anyone with a semi-functional frontal lobe *should* know that the stats don't really matter that much -- especially kill counts. It's more of a personal achievement thing (Am I really doing that much damage compared to others? Am I spending my SP efficiently? Am I soaking up healer SP? Are my numbers as good as last run?).
Maybe it isn't for everyone -- but for me -- it is less about ePeen and more about figuring out how well I did in comparison to myself. I think that's pretty cool and it lets you really hone your character.
I am against removing both but rather adding more information to clarify.
But more importantly, the above quoted as it pertains to removing the death count is just marxist mumbo jumbo. We most certainly do not all succeed or fail together. Not when it comes to individual death counts anyway.

If one or two people die repeatedly, it means nothing specifically about the rest of the group but tells more about the one or two (in most situations).

two neg reps so far but the night is still young
I'm not against adding other information, I'm just saying kill count is a bad indicator
will the bards song contribution to damage count towards the bards dps output? will it count sp saved and regenerated? will it also count spells successful due to your raising ot the dc's and caster level?
I really dont care much about kill counts, the only time I bother is when im with friends and we want to have a competition just for fun and to give us something to do during the boring quest. Or if I beat someone who is always so serious about kill counts and yada yada yada I point it out.
