Question A "Healing Warforge People" Build (Simply an idea, not a real build.)

Ok, so me and my girlfriend have been playing for about 2 months and I have found that I work fairly well with a Melee class (Fighter to be exact.) However...my girlfriend still hasn't found anything she truly "Loves" she likes being support and back up (I know stereotype, sorry.) She has tried cleric, rogue, wizard, and sorcerer. She liked all of those a lot but...eh... once she started to play cleric, she missed all of the damage of fire spells. Then once she played sorcerer, she hated that she couldn't heal me at all. So I suggested she play a rogue and...well... she was good at it...but she had no spells at all and all she liked it for was the fact that she could disable traps and unlock doors.

So, I think I have found a solution. I was wondering if a Sorcerer built on the idea of healing Warforge characters and using spells like Knock and the disable traps spell (The name escapes me, sorry.) Would work at all.

I was think sorcerer because they have more spell points (So she could assist and fight to.) And I was thinking drow due to the high charisma.

She loved being a cleric, but when it came to a party other then just me and her, well... she was less help then a dieting Kobald. So that made me think she would be good as a 1-2 person healing class.

So, what do you guys think... I hope I typed that up well enough for you to understand.

Would a Wizard be better for this idea?

Yes. Very much so. Flexibility in swapping spells and great synergy with the 2 lvls of Rogue. If she wanted to do a bit of everything you could look at the Texas Hold'em build:

She's in Skype with me right now, she jumped at the idea of being a one person only healer but still being able to do all of the awesome fire and ice stuff, witch, personally, she's great at AoE spell casting.

sorcerers get repair spells that will heal warforged though once a cleric gets the Heal around level 12 i think? they heal warforges just fine.

maybe try a 18 wizard 2 rogue build?

evasion with high saves use the insightful reflexs feat which lets you use int mod instead dex for reflex save.

    prob go warforged and archmage.

She can buff you, and heal you as well as herself, she can also crowd control and kill stuff with her spells, maybe go conjuration for the cheap web and maybe necro for the wails and fingers of death?

and with her rogue levels also do all the traps and open locked doors for you. And high INT = more skill points.

If she refuses to play WF and you don't want to play anything but WF, how about she plays a fleshie rogue / wiz and you play a WF melee-focused divine caster (FvS or cleric)? That way you can heal each other. Or, if she goes Pale Master, she can self-heal while in undead form and repair you, letting you play a pure melee build if you prefer. She could even mess around with summoning if the idea of having undead minions appeals to her; they're not very effective in the long run, though.

There is no disable traps spell sorry there is a knock spell for locks there is a divine spell for finding traps but it isnt really worth carrying on a divine caster

Eh... I think she likes the 18 wizard 2 rogue idea... but what do we do about the starting level...should she start as a rogue, or wizard. (She has vet.)

there is no "disable traps" spell. knock would be sufficient for most doors (not all, but most)

rog/wiz is actually a well known and very popular combo. the wizard's int gives a high boost to your trapping skills take insightful reflexes and your reflex save will be awesome. if you do it right, pretty much only a dedicated, mechanic built rogue will be better... and even then not by THAT much.

and if she chooses warforged also, she can heal both of you. very self-sufficient little duo ^_^

edit: hmmm. no warforged, huh? point out to her she'd be immune to almost everything... if that doesn't tempt her... i recommend drow (don't dump con) pale master. drow (don't dump con) for the highest max int, and pale master for the self healing. max int, max con. don't forget the toughness feat

start as rogue for max skill points

you max out that int, you'll have something like 40something skill points to play with. sooo many skill points.....*giggles a bit oddly*

ahem. typical progression is something like 1 rog. wiz until some mark you're trying to reach has been met (6 levels for pale master, 7 levels for firewall... etc) then take the other level of rogue, then ride the rest out wizard

So for I have her making a rogue to start out, then leveling it 2/2 as a start so she can get the two levels of rogue at the start. So right now, only one more thing... race?

drow will give you max int possible. you can walk out of the generator with 20. human would give an extra bonus feat at first level. half elf can get bonus racial "dilettante" feats... get 13 str and take fighter dilettante, for example, and she would be proficient in all melee martial weapons. something more useful to her, tho, would be to have a 13 wisdom or charisma and take dilettante cleric or favored soul. easy use of cure wands/scrolls at the lower levels before pale master takes over. (and for any time not in an undead form)

since she is starting with rogue, and will have plenty of skill points... DO NOT NEGLECT UMD. throwing a raise scroll at the dead cleric and saving the almost-wiped raid is delicious!

How far did she get on her healer? You can have a solid healer and add max and empower feats and do a good deal of damage with blade barrier. The new level 5 DOT is also very nice if you stack it several times(good for bosses). The new PRE for FVS is fun with the laser parrot, you dont even have to target the enemies, you can focus on healing and it will just be sitting on your shoulder, shooting things. However, i do agree with the previous posters with the rogue2/wizard18 build, I have played with many while xp grinding on my TR's and they do a lot of things quite well.

I was thinking something along the lines of this: wiz 18 / rogue 2 Pale Master specced for Necro & Enchantment; for fun I added a summoning focus, though that's not really optimal and should probably be respecced out eventually. Feat order & enhs probably need some tweaking, but it's enough to get the gist of what I'm going for. One of the nice things about it, I think, is that it's a build any F2Per can try; the +2 INT tome is nice but not essential, so there are no special build or other requirements, beyond getting the best trapping & caster gear you can as you level.
