I finally hit top of a new page. I'm surprised this thread is still going. I'm pretty sure we've established show has what opinion and why by now.

I carry it on all my casters still. It's convenient for a few buffs but I can see why ppl are dropping it.

    Wizard and/or Bards? Yes.

Sorcerer? Probably not. Though I could see it if you could spare a feat slot or being a human..

My first rather gimpy sorcerer didn't take Extend at all before U9 - and the only thing I got was in a shroud at level 19.

"Pewf, are you preparing yourself for U9 by not having extended cloud kills?"

    Huh.

So does this mean it's okay for me to be a Handwrap Pure Barbarian Frenzied Berserker with 12 CON? I mean, MY character, MY weapon choice, right?

My goal is to one day play a Drow Base Con Frenzy III wearing a Bloodrage Symbiont, TWFing Vicious Weapons, with a side of Fighter Haste Boost I.

    Help me realize my dreams.

I will take Haste, Rage etc when the tanks take Intimidation. Seriously, how many times am I chased by some monsters and the party actually tells me to just stand there and take the hit while they kill the mob? In every group that I play, they have Intimidation about 2% of the time. They probably end up wasting their slots on stupid "personal" skills like jump, swim (never mind taking useful ones like Balance) instead of a great party skill like Intimidation. Even a barbarian with their insane number of skill points never take Intimidation, or bother to use it. Out of all the "tanks" I see, most of them have terrible AC and completely fail to protect me.

The tanks run this game, they will hire 4 of them in a party, buy 2 mages is too much. They want every heal, every buff but never do anything but what they want to do, which is to kill. Well it goes both ways, you want the sorc to "help the party", do it yourself.

    I'll bite.

Barbs have 3 skill points per level. That's not "insane skills". Perhaps they are thinking Jump, Balance, UMD, and one rank of tumble? The UMD, or course, is to be able to use weapons not of your alignment. Pure Good, anyone?

That said, both my melee toons have Intimidate - want to know a secret? Intimidate on the move works about as well as spreading peanut butter on your hands, slapping them together, and calling it a sandwich. Intimidating on the move often means I get "out of range" errors, with a 15 second cooldown regardless, or I don't even get the error, just a cooldown and a mob that isn't intimidated, even if my screen shows that I am right beside them when I hit the button.

Now, them asking you to stand still? Perfectly decent idea. Why? It allows them to Trip, Stunning Blow/Stunning Fist, Sap, Intimidate, or otherwise take care of the mob bothering you.

So, learn to hit the shift key and take a few hits, or don't be pulling mob aggro.

I agree, to a point. If my sorcerer casts a series of buffs on, for example, the fighter in the party who says he is tanking, then it is reasonable for me to expect them to tank. It is an annoyance to buff all the melees in the party just to have them pew-pew the boss (meaning I will get the aggro with the first offensive spell I cast) or to have them decide to take out all the generic mobs nearby while ignoring the boss, who promptly decides to focus on me and chase me down until I am dead.

    However…

I still cast all the buffs on these melee types because that’s how I play. I can’t control how they play. If they are awful enough players I will not group with them again. If the only thing awful about them is they don’t spam Intimidation, that is not enough for me to refuse to buff them, or refuse to group with them. If they are in my group I will buff them and work with them to finish the quest. If they are truly horrible players I just won't group with them again after that.

It'll just resurface in a few days, with a slightly different title and a different person as the OP.

Then stop running and KILL it. Drop a web and your favorite persistent AOE damage spell. Rage/Haste the group, hold shift, and wait for the party to kill whatever is aggroed on you. Shouldnt take long. Regardless, if you want the melees to peel the mobs off of you, you have to stand still and give them a chance to build some aggro. Unless you are kiting deliberately, in which case there is no reason to complain about the melees.

That assuming you dont just one-shot nuke it or insta-kill it.

In actuality, I seldom even want the melees to intim mobs off of me. This is more and more the case with many casters, so I cant really say i blame them for NOT bothering with intim. They have been taught (by US) not to do it.

Funny reply. I did lol at the hand sandwich, but you missed his point entirely.
