PSA Haste does not waste a valuable spell slot

Actually, most casters that don't know how valuable haste is to DPS won't be able to solo heyton's rest at 20... It generates WAY more DPS per SP than any other spell. If people want to stick their head in the sand and say it doesn't, that still won't change the facts. My arcanes carry it because: 1- I like to help the TEAM, 2- it helps me.

Crazy thing about haste: I can give it to the party to help them do more DPS and have faster run speed... and I am STILL able to do plenty of killing and can solo stuff just fine without needing some other level 3 spell to replace haste...

This weekend in my TRing pugs i ran with both some casters who didn't haste and some Divines who didn't heal . . .

I decided heck, I'm not gonna "meatshield" and didn't interdict any mobs coming their way.

Oh . . . the DINGS were glorious . . .

They were poor players.

Good divine players don't need a meat shield.

Bring a caster willing to cast haste instead of a caster who is not willing to cast haste.

There's your even better haste.

With the added benefit of being much faster to accomplish than making an epic anything, because epic time sensing goggles grow on trees and we're farming them without haste in the meantime? That's a brilliant idea....wait until level 20 to grind an item we would want to use long before 20th level when we could have a better version of the ability much sooner.

I gave up on a point 20 pages ago, I just wanted to fan the flames of stupidity to make page 40.

We can now let this thread become as dead as the brain-cells of casters who don't cast haste.

i had a similar issue with a sorc who didnt pick up resist energy. really? you dropped the most damage decreasing spell in the game for a skillful sorc? for a level 2 spell? are there even 5 spells you WANT? let alone need...

I've seen OLD Sorceror's make this tradeoff for Resist Energy. I didn't agree with it, but the character never seemed to miss a beat and...frankly...*everyone else* carries it including me.

I think it's quite possible with the right play style and skill, to be extremely effective without many spells some consider must-haves. Except, for Haste. That's a first for me...I've seen Sorceror's make the argument that extend isn't necessary since, forever...just not having it at all?

I wonder if they were having a little fun at the OP's expense.

I was keeping eveyrone hasted before you learned how to use your computer. Bottom line is that its no one's job to keep you hasted. Sure its nice to be hasted. But to comment to a caster who doesnt cast it much less try to declare that you know enough about the game to make 'judicial' decisions on its 'efficiency' does nothing but show your complete lack of ability. Does casting haste end up doing more 'damage' , i.e. through melees than a spell of equal cost? Sure. Doesn't mean that its anyone's 'job' to keep you hasted. Especially now w/ the spell cost makeover it shows even moreso that its no one's 'job' to stand there and haste you. When I could cast haste for 6 people or throw a fireball for the same cost, sure it made much more sense to cast haste. I still keep everyone hasted, better than anyone here. But now a days a caster can cast anywhere from 5-10 bolts/missles/fireballs instead of casting haste and you can drink a pot. Its no one's job to stand there and increase your ability. This reminds me of melees in epics who don't even have Greater heroism for themselves.. what are you doin in Epics if you dont even have GH? "Oh its easier for them to cast it"... like My wzard is supposed to spend 35% of his spell points increasing the effectiveness of useless melees who don't even have their own GH. Too much sense of entitlement and not enough skill to back it up. Its the name of the game today. You people need to step back and go out and pick the cotton in Xorian Cypher a bit more before puttin your wide load in my epic groups.

While I do indeed have Haste on my Sorcerer, I am sorry but Haste in no way helps him at all. Being WF he self heals and has 30% Striders... Technically I only need groups for Raids so why exactly would I be wrong to not take a spell that doesn't help me in any way shape or form? So in Raids, I Haste. In the middle of combat, I Haste if the melee are not scattered all to hell and back. To run someplace slightly faster? Good luck with that.

Also, if you want Haste come find me when I say I am casting it. I'm not running to you because, as I said, the Haste isn't for me.
