    Default U10 release date?

So yea it's no secret.. U10 is already live, just waiting for it to be enabled.

I and other would kinda like to play it on live, rather then lamannia.. We played the quests and gave our feedback - as you can see the majority of ppl that test things have done so.. And surprisingly very few bugs in these quests, no major ones for sure. Should be fine to go live as is.

So whens the release date? ...Tomorow would be nice.

I think you mean it's already ON the live servers. For the update to be "live," it would mean the code is on the live servers AND active, not just that the code is on the live servers.

And, yes, tomorrow would be nice.

Meaning that no live server update will be needed...just like the unbound crafting!

I quess waiting four months for U9..they had U10 done at the same time!

I always look forward to Odd Updates. Even Updates are just boring!

I understood what he meant but it wasn't accurate by my understanding of the word "live" when used in conjunction to software/games. Typically, when speaking about software or games going "live," it means it is fully functional AND active. U10 might be fully functional on the live servers but it isn't active.

Now I might completely have that wrong but I've been around software and games long enough that I doubt I would have missed the true definition for so long but there's always that possibility.

The fact that they aren't turning it on bodes not so well for seeing U11 anytime soon. Personally, I think Turbine has lost it's focus with DDO and the development process is a jumble of competing ideas which makes it difficult to maintain the agressive update schedule ol' Fernando was pimping when F2P was announced...

Well, let's say hypothetically - just spitballin' here - that you're Turbine, and you've just released U8 or U9.

And you're looking at your big Calendar of Updates for 2011. And you look at U11. And you say to yourself, "Hmmm, U11's gonna be pretty ambitious, lots of changes, stuff to go wrong... hmmm."

Why wouldn't you arrange it so that you could turn on u10 in a heartbeat if U11's running more smoothly than expected?

And why wouldn't you hold it in reserve to preserve the spacing of releases in the event that there are really serious problems with U11, and you might end up pushing that release into, say, next year?

    Edit: just speculatin's all.

Obviously not THOON™. However it should be SOON™er or later.
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

no I wouldn't, as thats a pretty mean thing to do.

I'd want my fans to play the content i've created, not try to trick them into some kinda lull thinking stuf is happening when it really isn't.

    Pardon?

I'd rather say allowing us a preview server where we could try this stuff out ahead of time, and a specific subforum to discuss the quests, and loot, is a pretty big "teaser".

Your assumption is that is on and completely ready to go, and while a version of it is probably there. My guess is we will see one more patch before they flip it on. Just because something is in a released build, does not yet mean it is complete and signed off to go live.
It has been fairly obvious from the last few releases that they develop the odd and even mods in tandem(often joining the story). This is good for speeding up the dev process as the content devs can move quicker and produce 2 updates worth of content in the same period it takes to get the system changes in for one mod. This however creates a situation where you have the second update ready more or less content wise, in the same time frame as you have the first update ready system wise. My guess is the internal QA builds had all the U10 content code in it(probably 80% complete testing wise etc.).

So when we went live with U9 all the U10 elements that were in the builds as tested went with it to ensure that we got the tested version not an artificially split version that received no actual testing. This is why the new twelve was there but npc's etc were missing.
I am sure we will get one more patch with final U10 fixes baked in, and then they can flip the switch so to speak.

Not an assumption. I played the quests, they are ready to go.

Exactly what needs to be fixed? This pack is one of the least bugged ones in ddo history. Haven't seen a single bug in the quests.

re: Tomorows hotfix.. Most likely has nothing to do with u10. It's 9.2 as I predicted.

Actually it is 9.1.1 it is being billed as a hotfix and they do not get a X.Y nomenclature

And please show a screenshot of you playing the quests on live.

Otherwise saying you have played them on Lama proves nothing in stating the copies on the live servers are the latest and greatest versions.

Either way we will never know which one of us is right since Turbine never tells

i understand the +10 save bonus on the armor is borked (ie stacking when it shouldn't be). this may be what is being fixed.

it is also possible that the downtime tomorrow will include fixing the stacking problem so that U10 is in fact ready to be released, since that's the only thing i've heard being particularly wrong.

or, maybe they're finally adding that blasted symbiont into the game ^^

fixing minor bugs like that doesn't block a release.
