Default Please give us the ability to adjust party members sound!!!

    How I currently describe it......

awful, atrocious, abominable, bad, corked, corky, crappy, deplorable, distressing, dreadful, horrendous, horrific, horrid, icky, ill, incompetent, junk, lousy, no-good, painful, pitiful, poor, rotten, sad, sorry, stinking, stinky, terrible, trash, unfavorable, unspeakable.

Seriously, when a person can't hear another party member while having a different party member cause your ear drums to split from being too loud is not good.

Seriously, you need to really fix this.

If it is code from another company, FIRE THAT COMPANY!!!!!!!

Get some code from another company and MAKE SURE THAT CODE WORKS WELL!

If you feel it would be best for you all to develop your own voice code, give us the ability to adjust voice of other players so that I can hear everyone and not be blasted by others.

This is not a code related issue; but really something the players involved should solve themselves. I.e. go to mic settings in windows and turn it louder or softer where needed.

Sorry, this is flat out wrong.

For example, and it's a common example:

    Player 1: I can't hear you, Player 2.
Player 3: What, he sounds fine to me?
    Player 4: Fine here, too.
    Player 5: Fine for me.
    Player 6: Loud and clear.

    Player 2: HOW'S THIS GUYS?!

Players 3 through 6 go deaf.
Player 1: Cool, but you're still kinda low.

It seems to me that player 1 has put his ingame volume too low then... or does he hear the other 4 players just fine? If he hears the other persons fine, then there must be something wrong. For me this is inexplicable.

Happened to me few times that i move mic, and forgot to put it back to right place = no one could hear me good

And i had went def in some pugs when someone had his mic dumping noise to rest of us :S ( Yes heals im talking about you ). Interesting thing was that noise from mic or something else that got to us trough his talk key had alot more decibles than what we got when he was talking

    ^This...
having have this happen more than once... I usually solve it by going off mic, which has the unintended effect of player death at times when needed info can't be passed as quickly as needed.

Actually it IS a code related issue. There is no auto-levelling of incoming sound from other people. What is auto-levelling? In a nutshell the software is supposed to boost or lower incoming sound to a preset level so that all incoming voices from other users are at the same level. No more Player 2 you're really quiet to me but blowing the ears out of Players 4-6 and just fine for Player 3. And yes, I've been in a group where EVERYONE'S levels (ingame and in Windows itself) were 100% identical and still having the player who is quiet as a mouse to one person and louder than a rock concert to the rest. The ONLY difference was in the type of mic/headset people were using. So, until you can get EVERYONE to use the same hardware, this needs to be treated like a code issue and new code put in.

The code itself for VC is from Gamespy or Gamespot or one of those idiot companies(I gotta pay money for a sub in order to pay MORE money to download a game? F that!). I'm sure it was part of a deal when the game came out for them to host the game files for download.

What Turbine NEEDS to do is get rid of the code and put in the code from Ventrillo which HAS auto-levelling.

There's a hundred threads about this and it seems a new one starts about every week.

I'm starting to get to that point.

Explain THIS! If everyone's settings in the group are set EXACTLY the same and the same issues happen, how is that an issue on OUR end? Two of us (my wife and I, sitting in the SAME room, with the SAME headsets and 100% identical settings) come across at different levels (hers is extremely loud to me and mine very quiet to her).

Just kill Gamespy's crappy VC, rip the code out, put in Ventrillo's VC coding, test inhouse until it's "working" then drop onto the Beta servers. Let people play with it. I'm sure a HUGE majority of the players will appreciate it. Heck...call the Update: Voices of Stormreach.

Exactly. I bought a new mic and no one could hear me very well anymore. Went into my windows settings and raised my DDO volume, and it fixed it.

I'd settle for a command that lets you disable incoming audio from said offender but still allowing you to see what they type for critical situations where communication is needed.

As it is now, /squelch blocks everything, both written and spoken.

It would be nice if they had a /block to stop both written and audio.....and /block audio to just block their voice chat.

If it really seems the person whose audio is bothering me is not an important vocal leader in success of the quest, I just simply /squelch them if they cannot adjust the sound on their end.

And you think because YOU wont be hearing them, they should have to start typing so YOU know what he's saying if something important comes up?

Uhmm yeah...if they are ignorant enough to have their sound set at a level that is going to give me hearing damage......I'm not gonna sit there and not be able to hear 6 people in a raid because one person is overbearing...unless they are the vocal leader........then I will turn everyone else down and just pay more attention visually to what is happening.

Here's the part you're not getting. IT has nothing to DO with me being ignorant, it has to do with the way the game processes sound. In one party, with five people, 1 says I"m blasting his ears, 2 can hear me, and 2 I'm inaudible too. We tried testing this with a lan at my house so we could see everyone' settings and put them all the same incoming and outgoing settings, and the same results. The same speaker was super loud on some, super soft on others, and fine on others with the same settings. So you feeling the need to callpeople ignorant over something this trivial really...exposes your own here.

Actually I was speaking of people whom pretty much everyone in the party/raid is complaining is too loud.

Assuming is quite ignorant as well.

    Seconded.

Some people are just moronic, and do nothing after being told by several people they are making people's ears bleed - and often they are people that talk far more than they should.

Squelch is the only option, and it shouldnt be.

I am perfectly happy saying "You have to type if you want to communicate, because you apparently dont have the ability to adjust your mike level and are causing pain"

I dont need to hear some idiot chatter on forever - but in a raid "West lever pulled" or some such sometimes matters - and typing is perfectly fine most of the time.

This dose not have any thing to do with devs or software to stop this issue, it has to do with personal setting in your sounds stats play around with them and you will see what i mean...

example I have mine were it is set not to loud this is for those big mouth peps so they want bust my ear drum just talking or being them selfs, also I have mine set to were u can hear me just right, if you can't hear me then that is your setting because i am not changing mine!!!!...just take a lil bit of changing the sounds coming in and going out....

This has everything to do with software, not personal settings.

Grouped last night and there was someone with their volume loud enough to hurt my ears and another player that I had to turn my volume all the way up to hear.

The other players were somewhere in the middle.

They system doesn't get adjusted correctly by players. Nothing forces them to set things correctly.

They don't have to set their PC up correctly either which can also be a factor.

    Also....as stated in this thread...
