few things cause me to squelch people. i'm normally a nice guy. there are a few things that tick me off.

    - 1-2 word sentences

    - CAPSLOCK

when puging, i run into a person who used capslock excessively, and would not turn it off then asked to plase turn it off. he then rage quit our group, rejoined, and then follwed me to the next group. would it hurt people to speak in real english with at least no capslock? *sigh* sometimes, i doubt this server.

    You forgot one:

    -shrplz

That gets a boot/squelch from me faster than anything else in the game.

I do if they are not polite enough to at least start a group without begging for a handout in a rude and highly irritating manner. If they actually speak in sentences, I have no problems with them.

I find that new players tend to ask where the quest is and how to get there instead of asking for a share.

I find that players who have been playing for a while, but haven't bothered to put any effort into learning the game start conversations with "share".

My pet peeve: players who have the mic permanently on and chew right next to it.

I still don't get why people get so bloody upset over share plz As opposed to saying "can you please share the quest, im not sure where it is and the golden arrow thing would help" (or is that still not longwinded enough) thats like getting upset at someone for saying lol instead "OH I'm laughing really hard that I might get a noise violation soon because that was really funny good show my friend"

IMO you should not ask for shares unless you are in a situation where you cannot get to the quest giver, like when you are standing at the entrance to HoX or VoD. You should instead ask where the quest giver is, or if you do know you should go talk to them yourself. Anything else is laziness. If you are too lazy to learn where to go and how to progress in the game properly, I don't want you in my group.

There's only two reason I ask for a share

    1. If I don't know where the quest/quest giver is the golden arrowe and the info given when the quest is shared is very helpful to finding the entrance

    2. Quest like DQ1 where the quest giver is ridiculously far away from the quest and I occasionally forget to grab it (especially with DQ and its incessant need to make you talk to the genie 5 or 6 times depending on his mood)

Both of these get the quest started faster and no one should have reason to complain unless someone is actually rude about it (ie. "Hey moron share dammit" or something)

This. Shrplz just screams "I don't give a f---" to me personally. And apparently a lot of other people as well.

Number 2 is valid. Number 1 is - like I said above - going to irritate me and I would much rather tell you who/where the quest giver is, because if you have to run there and talk to them you are more likely to retain the information.

Ok well your a little bitter but instead of going "auto-squelch" just tell them where the quest giver is if you prefer that.

Personally I see a Share please and just hit share...its very quick, very simple and frankly its takes less effort to click share than it does to squelch someone.

hmm... maybe if you just got the quest. Otherwise you have to find it, then share it. Squelch is just a quick right click away...

In my experience, people who join a group and then say "shrpls" uuuuuusually either don't pull their weight (pike) or zerg through and die. And then get ****ed because the healer/divine wasn't on their butts healing them. Then they scream "WHERE WERE MY HJEALS?!" only to be told by someone that the divine they see is a hireling. >.<

While I rarely squelch, I usually add so-called person to my "Friends" list

This closely mirrors my experience as well.

Im anti sober players they tend to be more unforgiving of peoples bad habits and the ability to laugh at them. I know that when I play sober I am far more annoyed at bad typers, cap users, typhos people wearing the same armor skin and loud over the mic.

Then I take a shot of rum or whiskey and everything is sunshine bunnies and laughter. I think if I played like this more often my life expectancy may lower but the fun is doubled by 100 percent.

    fair trade right?
