    Default Rest Stops

Its sort of annoying that in some places, taverns are not particularly well located, and since you need one to reset action points and such, such as when leaving wilderness areas, it'd be a nice idea if turbine could add little rest stop type of areas. Not full on taverns, no spirit healer or barkeep, but just little areas located near to wilderness entrances, like for hills, Searing heights, and so forth. Also, one in the harbor, near the bank in particular, and the waterworks entrance, would be sweet.

Its only purpose would be to reset action points and recharged items, nothing more. Or, just let ANY public area refresh these things.

So you can rush in and out of wilderness areas and heal up even more effectively and grind your fingers off?

Exactly! I hate having to run back to a tavern after leaving wilderness areas, I just want to wait my 5 minutes, or, get someone to join me so I can then break up the party, turn around, and run right back to slaughtering whatever it was I was killing before. I'll go to a tavern when I'm either dead or inventory gets too full.

You could also use that time to go to a tavern.

I don't really see what you're talking about:

Korthos Island -- Tavern within 15 second walk
Cerulean Hills -- Tavern within 15 second walk
Waterworks -- Tavern within 20 second walk
Tangleroot -- Tavern IS the exit
Three-Barrel Cove -- Tavern IS the exit
Searing Heights -- Tavern within 15 second walk
Sorrowdusk Isl -- Tavern IS the exit
Ataraxia's Haven -- Tavern at the entrance
    Restless Isles -- Just...just don't run this Wilderness Area...really...
Sands of Menechtarun -- Tavern within 30 second walk
Ruins of Gianthold -- Tavern within 5 second walk
Orchard of the Macabre -- This is legitimate. Hate running back to the tavern here. Maybe 60 - 120 seconds away...?
Vale of Twilight -- Tavern within 10 second walk. 30 seconds if you get dumped to the Twelve.
Subteranne -- Tavern within 20 seconds.
    Reaver's Refuge -- Tavern within 20 seconds.
Devil Battlefield -- Tavern within 20 seconds.

Did I miss any or grossly misrepresent any? Aside from the Orchard I just don't see it.

Restless Isles isn't too bad, back to the MP, then to a tavern, 30 seconds maybe?

Red Fens, if I'm not mistaken, doesn't have any public area to speak of, though there is a tavern not far from entrance. I grant the taverns aren't THAT far away, but still, its annoying. One thought would be to move the Leaky Dingy into the area around the bank, mail, and auctioneer, since aside from the two quest givers, there's practically no reason to ever go there, and move the trainers up top while they're at it.

I just feel its a little odd that finishing a quest will reset everything but leaving wilderness areas won't. And its HUGELY annoying that entering a quest located in a wilderness area wipes out your buffs but doesn't give your mana, hp, and other stuff reset. I don't mind all that much the fact my mana and other stuff doesn't get restored, but if you're going to remove them, its kind of annoying that I can't get what I spent back on them.

The Foothold (entrance to the Restless Isles) is considered a tavern area.

While the Fens doesn't have a public area, it does have a shrine right at the entrance. I often use the Fens shrine when I'm collecting Soul Gems or farming the eVoN2 and eVoN4 chests.

    I'm not understanding.

I thought all wilderness areas have a rest shrine somewhere.

This! Most areas have at least 2 shrines and as many as 5 or 6. And since shrines reset in wilderness areas, there's going to be at least 1 that you can use before leaving the area.

The rest shrines in the wilderness will reset your action boosts quicker than leaving instance and waiting on loading screens.

    Default Not a Bad Idea

Sure, there are some of the places listed where taverns are readily available - and I can see the point of the people responding with those lists (and travel times).

I don't know if it was a thought of the OP in their desire for the Rest Stops, but for me (and maybe others) there is also that added bit of Zoning In/Zoning Out of places that is annoying. I like that the IQ has it's tavern out in the open... one less splash screen to look at and download time to maybe freeze through.

(Subjective, sure - but I think the loading In/Out times of the taverns that have PVP pits is worse for me too).

Overall - yeah, I'd like to see a more "public" mechanism for clicks and abilities to reset.

Red Fens has the drow camp inside and Korthos has that lonely dwarf below Misery's Peak. Is that that kind of rest stop idea? Both have shrines and NPC's.

A couple of NPC and tents around some shrines might not be bad. Give it some scenery and flavor, and allow for some supplies and repairs.
