    Default Shipbuffs equal boot...

So I have said it before and I will reiterate here again for people that seem to have trouble understanding it.
If you join my party and mention shipbuffs to run any raid on normal(Pretty much any non epic raid) I will kick you from my party no questions asked.

The toon I run raids with the most is my melee healer. If I'm running anything but hound/shroud/reaver, you can bet my ass I'm picking up ship buffs. Vod elite? That +2 to hit is 10% more DPS on my favored soul. Kick me if you want, you'll end up spending more time filling than it would for me to pick up my buffs. Hell, even if I am a melee I'll probably outdps your average puglet.

Suit yourself, I couldn't care less

You should be just a bit more permissive.

    Reavers? I totally agree.

    Titan? Sure thing.

    Chrono? No doubt.

HoX/VoD? Now, don't be so hasty.... things can go wrong in there....

VoN? It's a quick boss, let them buff.

Shroud? I guess, but does it really matter either way?

ToD? I would assume any help in there is a blessing.

    ToD, I get them.

    Hard/Elite VoD, Shroud, Yes.

Anything else, I get them if time permits.

I think as long as you're not wasting party time to grab buffs, it's fine. Not everyone is well-geared and some of the buffs can go a long way in helping a pug succeed. If you're the last person to join and you make everyone else wait five minutes while you grab every buff available, that's a different story...

That being said, I tend not to use buffs myself unless it's a raid that I know is challenging, or might have a chance of something going wrong.

In our guild, we've intentionally planned the hookpoints on the main (outside) deck of the airship to contain the most universally useful buffs (str, cha, con, +2 dam, healing amp, and the rotating resist shrine) so that people can quickly grab them on their way to wherever: since people will be coming on the boat to use the navigator to warp to the quest location, it doesn't take them more than 20s or so to grab all 6 of those buffs on the way.

People only have to enter the inside of the boat if they want the training dummy, ac buffs (incl +2 dex, or wis/int. It works very well and it is very efficient.

Your Raid, your rules I guess. As mentioned above tho, most people will head to their ship to teleport to whichever raid is being run. Doesn't seem to make a lot of sense really for the sake of a munite or so when it probably takes much longer for the raid to fill.

I can understand hard/elite getting shipbuffs for some and as far as lvling lowbies then yes shipbuffs are the bomb. I am mainly tired of people thinking they need shipbuffs for raids that are being run on normal difficulty. Or people who wait for it to fill before going and getting them. I almost never get shipbuffs normal or epic. I believe that at endgame they are huge waste of time. This is just my opinion however.

Also if your going to neg me please at least have the guts to say so.

Default I guess it depends on...

...how long you wait until you start your raid. If you say: "We start now!" and someone says: "I will be there in five minutes because I have to get ship buffs." then I guess its okay to kick this player. But not for getting ship buffs, but for delaying the start of the raid for five minutes. Would be the same if you want to start and somebody says: "Quick bio, will be back in 5 min".

But if you are waiting 10 minutes at the entrance to the raid for a group to fill and someone gets his/her shipbuffs in the meantime I can't see any reason to kick this person for using the waiting time in a very reasonable way.

And I hope you would not request that anyone hands out energy resists once you start your raid (except its you handing them out to everyone) since you can get all energy resists (30) as ship buffs (as long as a mandatory death in the raid does not take the resists from you...)

    Cheers

I get the healing amp one - esp if I'm on a WF... but I won't tell you that I'm getting it :P

Everything else is if I have time.

Buffs are kinda irrelevant in this disucssion... it's more a case of if you hit an lfm you have indicated that you're ready to go questing, so come and go questing! Don't make 5 or 11 other people wait for you!

A bit of gracious wiggle room is allowed for real life, being on the other side of the game world, only-just-remembered-forgotten-components/scrolls-and-I'm-sorry... but not the 'it's-totally-ok-for-me-to-be-5mins-late-'cos-i'm-getting-ship-buffs'...

    because it's not ok.

It's disrespectful of the party leader's and party members' time to make them wait unnecessarily.

So I kind of understand where you're coming from OP. Although I wouldn't be quite so drastic. Thinking about it maybe I could respond if I'd already waited a while anyway "Hey that's ok - hit the lfm again when you're ready" and then kick them. Message delivered re waiting and the lfm will fill with or without them. Normally not that fussed.

I beleave your idea is just obsurd OP.

Ship buffs are great and save the whole party SP HP and deaths.

I could almost see your idea in normal questing,(alot of times i just grab the xp shrine and go) but in a raid? thatd just crazy, thats when they are most useful.

Honestly i think your idea will do you nothing other then make people mad and get youself blacklisted eventually.

But i digress, its your life do as you wish....im just saying i dont think your idea is even remotely right.

I'm on the fence, as i can see validity in both sides to this (the OP & the respondants)

But you know what really grinds my gears?

-when 5 people are ready to go for their quest, and the last person to join decides that they need ship buffs

-when you're in korthos and being nice enough to form a group, and people need ship buffs

But maybe i'm just jaded by having only a f2p guild & therefore needs to wait until lv 50 before i can put anything worthwhile on (besides navigator)

I can understand it, in a way. Leading a raid is a fine balance between appeasing those who just want to go go go and those who want to take their time and make sure they do it right. And as stated before, if you're the 12th one to join, making everyone else wait 5 minutes for buffs on top of how long they probably waited just to fill is inconsiderate.

Knowing all this, I try not to click on any LFM unless I already have my ship buffs. Simple as that. Does it mean that I miss out on joining some raids while I'm buffing and they fill? Sure, but it's not like there's any raids that are only run once a month or something. There will be another along in 20 minutes (less if that raid fails and has to reform).

So yeah, be considerate to your party.

I wouldn't kick anyone just for wanting ship buffs before going into a raid though, especially in a pug. I've been in some god-awful pug Shrouds in the last month. It's scary. I was having flashabcks to U4.

most of the time im just too lazy to get those **** ship buffs^^ (if there was a one click-gete all shrine ok but so ...)

i like speed (not the drug) and under epic i really see no reason for these little helpers (again i dont mean any drugs)

yesterday did devil assault being the cleric and solo healer on epic - used the xp shrine just because i stood near it and was too bored to use some of use so i went without ^^

    yes we did it
