New to crafting - basic devil dr breaker?

Hi there,

I am interested in making a dr breaker weapon for shroud.
If I was to obtain the Holy Shard off the AH, I could then make a weapon using the following steps?

- disjunct a silver weapon
- apply the holy shard to the weapon?
- is it possible to apply a +5 prefix? can these shards be purchased?

Would I need high crafting skills in any of the schools to make this process work?

I think currently the highest shard you can purchase is +3.

But yes even with no crafting levels you can purchase a holy shard, a + shard, and maybe some shards of potential.

To craft a boss beater disjunct a silver weapon in the deconstruct machine. Then apply the Holy shard in the Unboud items machine. Then apply the +3 shard. Depending on what you craft you may need to increase the items crafting level from the base +5 to a higher level. You do this by purchasing the shards of potential. Putting a +6 shard of potential in the machine with a Craftable +5 item will increase its level from +5 to +6. Letting you add higher ml shards. Holy should be a +2 and +3 shard should be +3 for a total of +5 so you should be able to craft without needing a shard of potential. For +4 holy you will need a +6 shard of potential though.

Highest shard of potential you can get unbound is +7 (level 70). You will only need a +6 for the best unbound beater you can currently make.

Highest enhancement bonus you can get is +3 (level 60).

You can get Holy which is a +2 enchantment.

The best outsider bane you can get is lesser evil (only lesser banes are available) which is a +1 enhancement.

So realistically the best you can craft right now is a +3 Holy Silver of Lesser Evil Outsider Bane. You will need a +6 shard of power for this.

Looking at the Sarlona marketplace this looks fairly cheap to do. The LEOB shards are going for a few hundred (although not many up...) while the +6 shards of potential are about 20k pp.

I'd just note this weapon isn't exceptional compared to other available DR breakers. It's an extra 3d6 and effective +4 against devils. That's nice, but not an endgame max DPS tool like the bound versions can be. I'd put that cutoff around Holy Silver of Lawful/Evil Outsider Bane. Current ultimate is +4 Holy Burst Silver of Greater Lawful Outsider Bane, taking roughly the same crafting level as an unbound Holy shard. That's effective +8 and 5d6, plus burst on crit. And that's before the other fun distractions along the way. The grind is still pretty rewarding.

Holy Silver Lesser Lawful Outsider Bane is excellent for your first several times in Shroud.

There are more than a few ways to get a better boss beater, but each of them require a significant investment of one kind or another.

This with a +3 enhancement is the best you can do unbound right now.

For most characters it's only slightly behind the crafted min II of the same weapon type.

A good starter weapon for devil beater and the difference of about 1.5 dmg per swing is probably enough to forego the min II and make lit II or whatever and just upgrade later to a +4 holy silver evil outsider bane when you hit hgiher crafting levels on your own for bound shards.

I made one of these weapons. I did not use a +6 potential and it let me make it. What gives? The item says +5 craftable and the item clearly says +7 at the top right of the description box.

What happens? Is the item functional?

I have a deathblock docent of superior stability that also didn't require a potential shard. It's +6 (on live server anyways) and seems to be functioning properly.

Might just be an oversight somewhere on their end.
