Default Weird question of the Day!

So while at work tonight I went into the bathroom because I noticed they had thrown out the old toilet paper devices and I wanted to see what they replaced them with. Well it seems instead of the old style public restroom 2 roll type they now just have a roll hanging on the wall. Seeing how they did it bothered me which is how this rather lengthy explanation came about along with the following question......

Should the toilet paper be left hanging out or hanging in?

I am a total outy and my wife constantly drives me crazy by hanging them in.

It depends. If it's a rigid roll holder, then out for convenience. If the holder is one of those which dangles and lets the roll rest against the wall, then in. I actually have a reason for that.

Reason: ~20 years ago I was just out of high school and living with my folks. I am a night owl and my dad has a very high Listen check. I developed a very high Move Silently skill as a result--I rather often scare the bejeezus out of people by just appearing next to or behind them in a room. Anyway, the main bathroom in my parents' home adjoins their bedroom. If I had to use the bathroom at 2 AM, the hanging-out method would allow the roll to bump against the wall when pulling out toilet paper, whereas the hanging-in way pulls the roll away from the wall and keeps it from bouncing on the wall. This reduces sleeper aggro.

It's possible that I spend too much time thinking about how to do things more quietly.

Im guessing you had a rather strict childhood. I base this on the fact that you were already home at 2am.

    LOL

After being married 18 years I find that I don't even invest in Move Silently anymore as it seems as soon as I step into the bedroom I am already at DA Red!! Oh well, guess that's why I play so many dwarfs.

It was more that they lived an hour and a half from the nearest town. Bugger-all else to do but stay up late reading/programming/watching bad late-night SF on satellite. On the nights I wasn't over at a friend's playing music or Magic, that is.

I think my wife's elven. No matter what time I come in there's always at least one eye watching me.

    Out.

Anyway else is just weird or chaotic.

I remember discussing this with my mom about 20 years ago (after an Ann Landers article about out vs in) , and she agreed with out, but my dad always wanted the rolls in. We outvoted him.

Toilet paper and paper towels are designed to have a +10 skill check when facing outward.

Anyone placing the rolls inward are griefing, and need to be reported to the Mods.
