    Question multi monitor support

ok im sitting here with 4 screens setup on my system...
im not asking for all 4 to be used in the game but at least the three along the bottom...
    or just two...
    but so far nothing..

is there any way we can get multi monitor support so i can put the chat windows and stuff off my killing screen?
put the open map in an area so i can run and kill at the same time
make for some great wide shots for the screenshot contest too

Yes. DDO is supported by both ATI Eyefinity and Nvidia Vision Surround. You'll have to find a resolution that works for you, but it is technically possible. Here is a thread on the forum describing such and a Youtube video show such.

I fully support this request. To be honest, it boggles the mind that games haven't taken advantage of multiple monitors yet.

I dont think 'window mode' helps that much, but at least i can use forum, teamspeak, puzzle solvers on my second monitor.

Husband and I run DDO on eyefinity, we love it and it is hard to go back to just playing on the one screen, (when he goes to work). So it is supported i have chat windows on the outer screens, i can always have the xp report always open and as many hotbars as needed.

Find it strangely funny when see your guild name and that you are set up better than N.O.R.A.D.

i always thought there was a tool for that from ati when i ran with them...
now i got nvidia and didnt see it ...
newest drivers are giving me issues installing
prob because both cards are 9400 gt's one on pci and one on pci-e

getting new board and chip in 2 days so ill try again then with 2 other video cards and see if i can load newest drivers...
as they do say they do more of the 3d stuff where all the "surround gaming" stuff iv been reading about is in it seems.
wish me luck friday with the 6 core /16 gig 4 monitor setup...

The ATI Eyefinity solution requires at least one of the monitors to be connected via DisplayPort. VGA and DVI are only supported as secondary connections. In addition, only 5000 series Radeon chips and above are capable of using Eyefinity. Your may find the instructions for set up here.

Nvidia Surround has differing requirements and is not something with which I have direct experience, however I do know that 9xxx series chips and below are not supported. You will find system requirements and setup instructions here.

Additionally, if you do not have a video card that supports either of the noted Nvidia or ATI features above, you can get Matrox Triplehead2go which supports up to 5040x1050 DVI-D resolution spanning over three monitors. That is how I currently run.

Windowed mode across your current setup will probably not work as the game itself is being rendered on your primary monitor (and thus through your primary video card). The other cards are not processing that information so the window will appear blank if you tried to expand to your second or third monitors.

Your only options are to either get one of the video cards mentioned that supports ATI Eyefinity or NVIDIA Surround, or get a graphics expansion module like the Matrox Triplehead2go.

I'd love to see a little more detailed multi-monitor support. Not just stretching the game across all monitors, but something a little more interesting. Sort of like the Wii U thing that just showed up at E3.

I'd love to really contain the actual game to my main monitor--so that has my character, and immediate surroundings...y'know, all the action basically is on the main monitor.

And then over on the side monitor(s) you can have my map, and my inventory, and the grouping window, or whatever else I want open. Sort of a way to detach those 'out of character' windows from the main screen and view them on my side screen. You could keep larger chat windows open too, if they're over there out of your way.

    That's basically my setup.

On my middle monitor I only have my health, the focus orb, and a single hotbar with my most often used items that do not need a hotkey. On the right is my inventory and 12+ other hotbars (including a hotbar with my spell components so I can monitor their quantity without having to open my inventory). On the left is my map and chatboxes.

But the whole game is spread out between them all too, right?

Yeah, I guess just doing that and what I said isn't TOO much different. Have a little extra periphery view on the side monitors, but you can clog them up with windows too if you want. I guess what I had said doesn't really make much sense.

These are all good suggestions. I run the Matrix Triplehead 2 Go
analog device purchased about 5 years ago for 199.00 has 3 output to moniter connections and 1 input. I have been running this game on three 19 inch monitors 3840 x 1024 res. since 2006 and have never had a problem, also runs most other games flawlessly. I currently run the game graphics set on very high with no lag issues. I only have a modest i3 processor. I would recomend this setup for anyone and have. Its a great, easy way to go and runs desktop and all apps with no problems.

    Good Luck

Awesome video, but since I'm expecting it to be more of a gimmick for me then a real feature, I wouldn't do it myself.

I do frequently use the ingame browser (chrome) to browse the ddowiki, and I got a lot of solvers and game info linked in myddo profile, so I have easy access (play fullscreen).

ok latest update for those wanting to go multi monitor...
2 moitors no prob...but your guy is going to be split down the middle...
    3 monitors ...theres the trick

if your board is ati based,
need an Eyefinity compatible video card

AMD Eyefinity technology was introduced in AMD's latest line of ATI Radeon™ HD 5000 Series graphics products which includes the following:
    ■AMD Radeon™ HD 6870 GPUs
    ■AMD Radeon™ HD 6850 GPUs
    ■ATI Radeon™ HD 5970 GPUs
    ■ATI Radeon™ HD 5800 Series GPUs
    ■ATI Radeon™ HD 5700 Series GPUs
    ■ATI Radeon™ HD 5670 GPUs
    ■ATI Radeon™ HD 5500 Series GPUs
    ■ATI Radeon™ HD 5450 GPUs
■ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5400 Series or higher GPUs

Note: These products support up to 6 display pipelines per GPU and the total number of display pipelines depends on the GPU as implemented by the manufacturer.1 Also, at least 3 simultaneous, active display outputs, including one DisplayPort™ connector are required to support AMD Eyefinity technology. Please consult the manufacturer of a particular product to confirm if it supports this feature.
    http://www.amd.com/us/products/techn....aspx#diff-res

the card itself can handle 6 display's as it says but only has three outputs...
the Display port connector can handle all the connectoins in one "adaptor / splitter" type setup

AMD Eyefinity technology is supported by graphics cards in the ATI Radeon™ HD 5400 series and higher. These cards can support up to six monitors (depending on the model), subject to the following restrictions:
    • A maximum of 2 legacy monitors (VGA, DVI or HDMI) can be enabled simultaneously, provided that each monitor is connected either directly or via a “passive” DisplayPort™ adapter/dongle. “Passive” adapters/dongles will NOT support more than 2 legacy monitors.
    • To enable support for more than 2 monitors, “active” DisplayPort™ adapters/dongles are required (or monitors with direct DisplayPort™ connectivity must be used).
    • Approved “active” adapters have no general connectivity restrictions with AMD Eyefinity technology.
    http://support.amd.com/us/eyefinity/...y-dongles.aspx

therefor by useing 2 of the outputs "dvi, vga or hdmi" and the third running off the Display port youll have the three screen setup
if you want to hook up more then one monitor to the Display port, a Powered or "active" adapter / dongle with multipul outputs would be needed {up to 6 im guessing}...

so to make it easy to understand...
with ati you must have all the monitors plugged into one video card to play as one...
two cards will NOT ...i say again... TWO CARDS WILL NOT ALLOW FOR MULTI SCREEN GAMEING...

    as for nvidia...
you must go sli to get the three monitor support

    GeForce
    GTX 590
    GTX 580/ 570/ 560 Ti/ 560
    GTX 480 / 470 / 465 / 460
    GTX 285 / 280 / 275 / 260
or use a video card that has three monitor support like the ◦GeForce GTX 295 card

you can go sli 2x or 3x and the configurations are basicly only three monitor setups...
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dv-sys...echnology.html

will update as i find more info

but back to my original statement.... would be nice if the GAME did this work for us so we didnt have to go to special stuff like this to get multi screen....
but then again it is free....lol

oh! and 6 core 3.2 Ghz w/16 gig memory zoom zoom zoom

    Cool eyefinity

    well i got the card...
    got the cable...
and got the three screen game going...
not bad, see the critters trying to sneak up in my "blind spots" and get great screen shots for desktop and soon some to submit for screenshot contest

    now...

still need more support for it
like field of view found on some unreal game engines, or more sizeing options in the user interface...
so the bars are larger or smaller by setting and not by screen size

and for older setups and people that dont have enough desktop space for 3 monitors, i again point back to the game itself having support for 2 monitors useing one as "center" and other as added info so you wouldnt get stuck with the center being split issue...
if that were included with the game system the three screen setup would become alot easier to manipulate...
but again thats just my opinion...

thnx for the info you guys gave and have a great game all...
    Bonger out -

    Default Bump to Modern Questions...

Okay, so I'm building a new rig, this will be my first rig to use eyefinity support and I am trying to decide on some things.

I'm considering going with 3x either 24" or 27" Widescreen monitors, looking at either 1980x1080 or 1980x1200 resolutions on a single XFX Radeon HD 6990

Now I've heard of people sayign they have 3x monitors running in 4:3, but I haven't seen anyone posting about widescreen on more modern stuff.

Does anyone know if more modern setups are supported better? Does it work with all widescreen monitors? Does the resolution for such a setup drag out the hot bars badly?

Does anyoen with a 3x widescreen setup on a modern card have screen shots they can take of their desktop so I can see what the viewing angle looks like?
