The application was unable to start correctly (0x0000135)

I am getting the error "The application was unable to start correctly (0x0000135)" every time i try to launch DDO, Lotro and some other games such as terraria. It is really annoying.

Have you installed any new hardware recently or had any kind of computer problems?

I have seen reports of this type of error in many places on the web with only speculation as to cause, so it appears situational.

First, just out of good practice, I would run a spyware/malware/antivirus checker, and check to make sure your sound and video drivers are up to date and see if that helps.

Since it is happening on many different applications I am suspicious of a hardware problem or software related to hardware (such as drivers). Have you had any problems in particular with your sound lately?
