Because a level 10 character playing an exceptionally powerful class is asking for a tank to help them with one of the easiest harbor quests in the game.

He does say in the LFM that he needs someone "for opening quest", and that he's running it for "favor." It seems clear to me that he wants someone to open it on elite, rather than having to run it N/H/E.

I really don't see the fail here . . .

At worst, it's a bit lazy. But can you blame him? It's a boring quest.

"need tank" is no where near "need opener", as opener shares only one letter with tank

only explanation i can think of is that he thinks "tank" is a word for "opener"?

No. "for opening quest" means the first part of the three quests in the Baudry's chain. If he just wanted an elite opener, he wouldn't have specified a tank.

Read my comment below the pic - I told him how to beat it, and he felt stupid once I told him he could just lay down a bunch of firewalls and breeze through it.

I'm not seeing the fail here either. Everybody knows that most good tanks can open quests on elite. Stop being so judgmental.

what if they wanted to play differently than you? what if they LIKE playing with a tank?

honestly, i think the MMO review recently posted might have more truth in it than i originally thought. its beyond me why a person would get ripped on for wanting to play with someone instead of soloing, and even MORE ridiculous that it made it to a thread on the forums.

Please go back and read the original post. The OP did offer the (presumeably) new player help to make them better. Very useful and helpful advice that actually did make them better.

Human survival instinct? You need to judge people based on your inital impression to determine if they are a threat, potential allay, or can be ignored, ect. Now that we have developed speech and writing, we can do so much more efficiently.

Could it be that the lfm poster was maybe poking fun at the fact that the recent changes have made tanks obsolete again for much of the content?

Maybe he was saying, "tank opener because that's pretty much all I would ever need a tank for is to open the quest, my class is now so op"

Maybe his "I didn't think of that" was really "like...duh...this guy isn't really catching on to my sarcasm...I'll just thank him instead of pointing out I could now solo this quest with 1/8th my mana bar in 15 different ways while playing another video game at the same time"
