Any helpful hints for fighting a lich?

Soloing the Tomb of the Wizard-King with my wizard (first time leveling up a wiz) and made it through all the content without issue, and then hit the final boss. None of my spells seem to effect him (is that high magic resistance or just immune?), so tried beating on him with my +1 Superior Potency Club which took my damage output from zero to only slightly higher than nothing.

So is there certain magic spells that are effective against liches, or do I need a good old-fashine undead beatdown stick to take him out?

Disintegrate

Raiyum, many other liches, and a few other bosses (Suulomades, Lailat when she goes to war), have a Mantle of Invulnerability. This blocks all level 4 and under spells from damaging them.

The best thing to carry for Raiyum at your level is Disintegrate.

Riayum has a Mantle of Invulnerability, he is immune to all level 1-4 spells. You need level 5+ spells to affect him.

As a lich, he is also immune to Ice and Electricity, so Fire/Untyped are your best options.

edit: note, Cyclonic Blast is no good because it reused code from Gust of Wind, and gets counted as a level 2 spell.

Immune to cold and electric.

Immune to level 4 spells and lower.

Best spell for a wizard is disintegrate.

Delayed Blast Fireball works too, but you wont get it till level 13.

Long time ago I learned this the hard way. I was not high enough level to even have disintegrate. Let alone 5th level spells. I did have a "Muckbane" though. It took about 15 minutes, but he went down.
I was a warforged. I had Bulls wands,repair wands and haste and rage.
That worked for me.

Thanks for the help. Two shots with disintegrate and down the lich went. Much faster than hitting him with a stick.
