Default Elec persistant AOE ala FW, Acid Rain

    Crackling Cloud

Creates a cloud of craclkling electrical energy, dealing 2d4 (2-8) Electrical Damage per 2 Caster Levels (max 16d4 -16-64) every 2 seconds for 8 seconds to all targets within the cloud. Reflex Save for half upon entering, no save for tagets remaining in the cloud.

When this spell ends, it expends its remaining energy in a massive Electrical discharge, targets within the cloud when this happens must make a Fortitude Save or be stunned for 3d4 (3-12) seconds

[Edit: after considering a few things i changed a few details of the spell, while still retaining the core idea behind it]

Is that an actual spell or did you make that up as an elect. equivalent to the other spells?

What level is it supposed to be?

Why make it more powerful than acid rain?
x twice as potent as acid rain (2d4 vs. 1d4) at lower levels (EDIT: scratch that, Acid Rain is 1d4 per caster lvl, yours is 2d4 per 2, my bad)
    - still more potent at max. level (16d4 vs. 15d4)
    - lasts longer (10s vs. 8s)
    - chance to stun

Seems a bit OP to me, compared to the other stuff:
    - twice as potent as acid rain (2d4 vs. 1d4) at lower levels
    - still more potent at max. level (16d4 vs. 15d4)
    - lasts longer (10s vs. 8s)

yes, it is a suggestion for a Elec Persistant AOE.

would most likely be one level higher than Acid Rain

Twice as potent to start, but progresses more slowly, every 2 caster levels verses every caster level.

    agree about duration, Fixed

stun chance to fit the theme of an Elec spell, and to give some added utility.

Overall, not much stronger than Acid Rain

Just make Call Lightning Storm drop as scrolls and allow players to select it at level up. It's already coded, just give it to the players as a spell.

i dont like this idea because the lightning is random, not persistant, and the idea for this spell is a persistant damage AOE

You still haven't stated why it would be 1 level over acid rain? Is it because it would benefit your spell layout that you would have it at level 5 and not 4?

I don't see any level 4 electric spells, and feel it would be better at level 4. Also, as it will be the same level as acid raid, it'll most likely be identical to acid rain in every damage and time aspect, but possibly have a reflex save for every hit, because it has a chance to stun. But then it might not be stun, but rather daze like Electric Loop.

the higher spell level was to accomodate the (slightly) higher power due to the stun effect, but in hindsight not such a great idea. I DO like the idea of daze rather than stun, makes it slightly less powerful, while still mantaining utility, but i DO NOT think it should have a reflex save on every tick
