    Default Account bank bug

    This post for Mcdog!

    My friend, Mcdog in trouble becouse he lost his Large ingredients bag ingame.
    It begins that he wanted to take out his large ingredients bag from the accounts bank before he stepped in the Shroud. The Accounts bank opened but he couldn't take out anything. He left the bank and went to the shop repairing his armor, after then he went back to the bank. But the bank didn't opened.
    He didn't understand what could be wrong. Than he went in the Shroud without using his bank account ( it didn't work).
    When he stepped into the shroud his bank account suddenly opened without he tried to open it.
    He thought it is very strange, but he was glad that he could take out his bag. He didn't managed to take out the bag, so he closed the bank's window.
    He thought it was only a program bug, and when he finished the Shroud he opened his account bank and than he realised that the bag disapperad. He looked his Inventory because he thought that maybe the bug put the bag there, but there was none!

    We hoping he can getting back his bag, becouse it contains he's all shroud ingredients what he collected in last two years, and ToD items and so...

    We hear this kind of thing way too often.....

    Tell your friend to try checking all his other characters' inventories too, another player recently lost an ing bag and it turned up on one of their alts they were certain had never used the bag. Not sure how it got there but this may help Mcdog too.

    Good idea, but he checked his all toons and the bag is still missing. He wrote a ticket on http://support.turbine.com website and got a reply that he need to send an ingame ticket. The problem is that he more than 45days bought points and 'new ticket' and 'track ticket' options is missing from his help menu. He sent an another ticket, but didnt get a reply till now...

    The question is: If somebody has a premium account which is more than 45 days old, (hasn't ticket options) is he any chance for support or he need to buy turbine points?

    ok. first of things you'll have to calm down because the short answer is you have lost the bag (without going into detail).

    This is an old and frecuent problem, you can find cases in the search results.
    Is ok to rant, but more important would be to spread the word so people be careful and even more important to keep up with the bug reports so the devs cease ignoring it.

    Regarding support, the in-game ticket is indeed the bug report form.
    If you try a GM they would direct you to the bug report as well.
    Bug reports don't give you a reply, but in lag issues you may get a reply telling you these lag issues may happen.
    (e.g. got one such reply with lag at the airship tower door, that's a funny bug, not sure if was fixed)

    However, reply or not we still have to send the bug reports because that's the only way a problem is gonna be ever looked at, let alone climbing the queue. Unfortunately, no one wants to run into this bug, if most of us are careful when lag occurs no items are lost and chances are no one is sending the report. When you notice bank lag try moving small items, it won't matter you lose a potion or some junk item, the thing is sending the report. (so far i have lost a small quiver by doing so)

    The workaround, good or bad, is making a good habit of testing the bank for responsiveness before moving valuables.
    Better lose that small quiver than the green bag.

    For those that don't know, lag on the services can occur outside of the daily 'lag hour' but more rare than is tought to be.
    The lag hour however, is every day at night and believed to be some kind of maintenance time running in the server.
    Either way it may last mere seconds or it may last several minutes, but if it last too long what you need is a relog and it will clear.

    Services lag also affect all mailbox/ah/vendor/etc. people has mentioned losing mail but less often than bank items.
    Another good habit is to mention 'bank lag' in the general chat, it'd be promptly confirmed by people.
    May also help more people test the bank so there's more bug reports to send.

    As of the bug itself, it may or may not be in the devs list, and seems to happen less often these days, delays in the bank still happens but may be client side lag, where only server side lag may cause item loss.
    (server side lag do happen, as with mass disconnections, altough haven't seen that recently)

    Arguably lag itself can't be fixed, but the issue of data loss is worth any kind of work, there must be some failover built into it.
    Things like 'locking' come to mind, the items can be put on a temporary list, if the transaction can't finish then the item is never moved.
    The only effect is that moving items to bank won't be instantaneous, but very well worth it.

    So don't feed the lag monster, or feed him junk so it gets sick and dies.

    We never got any information about these bank lag problems before, so I think it is not our fault that we weren't enough careful about handle the bank. It isn't acceptable in the lack of information to lose the result of month's work.

    The question is still: has he any chance to get back his items which are lost in the lag?
    (i think its easy, someone who have rights, search a saved spot before this accident and simply give him back his own bag)

    I just posted about a similar issue here.
    And I knew about potential issues so when I saw my item was not transferring, I decided to wait rather than walk away. Unfortunately when alt-tabbing out it made me jump (alt= jump for me) which closed the bank, and the item went *poof*

    If you *need* to open an in-game ticket to get help, it's really lame... what would this forum be for? Luckily for me I just lost 35k pp (to replace the lost item from the AH), but if I had lost hundreds of larges and noone would help me... I'd be quite mad.

    been there, done that (well, not hundreds. i don't have that many to lose). no real point in getting mad at the GM, the GMs aren't the ones who made the decisions to have inadequate tracking for a problem that has been known about for years, nor are they the ones who made the decision to not give the GMs any tools to actually resolve problems instead of telling people they can't do anything and to submit a bug report.

    i'm sure if the GMs were given a choice between "get yelled at for a living 8 hours a day" or "actually be able to do something to help people", most if not all of them would choose the option where they don't get yelled at for 8 hours a day.
