Top crystal barrier in Titan Awakes wont open

My guild has been trying to get through the Titan Awakes quest now the last couple of weeks and we noticed something strange. The barrier in front of the top Crystal synthesizer doesn't come down so there is only one source to run crystals from, which has caused problems both of the times we have run it. Has anyone else noticed this, or is there some way to lower the top barrier that we aren't aware of.

I've run the Titan several times recently and have noticed nothing strange or unusual.

Does the bottom barrier come up?

If not, your likely not hitting the titan with your pillar drops. There are some visaul effects which make the Titan look like it is position, when it is not in fact.

Always make sure you select the titan and look where the little white circle is, which is often not where its feet are.

you get top then bottom then both I beleive you only need to run from 1 anyway as it resets

Hmm, bottom barrier comes up fine, but the top one doesn't seem to. I think we have failed to hit the Titan so if we need to hit him before the second barrier comes up that might be the problem. I appreciate the advice about targeting though.

You have to hit the Titan twice with the lazer after dropping a pillar on him. After two successful hits, the bottom barrier closes, and the top opens. After the third and fourth hits powered from crystals from the top, both are open for the fifth and sixth hits. This gives you leeway of two pillars to miss with; again, it is successful lazer hits that open/close the top/bottom, not dropping pillars.

When it begins only the bottom is open.
After you hit him twice the top opens and the bottom locks.
After you hit him the fourth time they are both open.
