    Default defendor II/aov I

    was just messin around with the build idea. im not sure its really even a playable toon. the idea behind it is aov light vulnerablity combined with the pally divine sacrifice. it probably more of a flavor build. i went with h/elf dilli fvs so i could rez/heal scroll at 15 no umd. i went defendor II for a good dr/tank. figured with intimi + h/elf intim + aov aura and amped light dmg from ur divin strikes u should hold agro fine. i dont know what sort of dps this will do. the build seems to have good hp and saves and plenty of self healing so probably a good solo build too. the feats are abit funky too. wasnt sure about stunnin blow. the smites would be nice while stunned but its still meah.. and sheild mastery was.. kind of a place holder for something better?.. was thinkin a second toughness but i dunno. its more dr the way it is but i dunno if its worth the feat. anyways. just something to noodle over.

    sounds good enough , but how about 2 monk and just get all punchy I know you would lose the lvl4 spells, but gain feats evasion and well AC w/o a shield.

    I've tried putting together one of thes on the builder since U9 and commented on others doing the same, but I just don't like how they synergize. On the surface it seems like a great mix, but some things to consider....

    Aura:
    What you'll gain is the light,save and ATK de-buff. The crown of retribution is only for your champion, not yourself, and be-ing a pally, you'd want the aura for your divine sacrifices I'd assume. I've yet to read anything here on the proc rate on the stacking de-buffs to be reliable in any case.

    Spells:
    This was the final straw for me when I looked at building one. Obviously offensive casting is out....no big deal. The problem is, try running through the character creator and choose spells ( buff, spell, and utility ), there isn't many that don't need to scale to be used at higher levels. There is also the problem of progression. Where you take those spells requires careful consideration. Assuming AoV levels 1st to get the aura ASAP, you're left with weak buffs once you focus on pally. This would also push back all the needed and cool pally spells which scale nicely to higher class levels. The alternative is to take your pally levels 1st, but that leaves pretty much all the FvS spell choices worthless.

    AoV and AP's:
    Almost all the required AP's for AoV are the Smite lines. This wouldn't be bad on a higher level even melee focused build as generally light-based has no saves, and no spell resistance. But, with only Searing Light availableto a 6 level splash, I doubt it would be worthwhile. ( depending of course on level progresion )

    The Big Picture:
    Al-in-all, you're spending 10 AP on enhancement lines that you won't use, and 6 levels to gain a de-buffing aura that rarely will stack to full benefit. The spells gained IMHO are not a factor, as their only potential use "could" be while leveling early. Compare that with just simply splashing 6 FTR levels for Kensai I. 11 AP spent vs. 10, full BAB progression 4 extra feats, and enhancement lines that are useful to you all the time. You could even drop Kensai, have more precious palidin AP's to spend, and take 4 FTR, and 2 of either monk or rogue depending on if you want the extra feats, or skills, AND gain evasion.

    Sorry for the wall of text, but I have seriously spent wayyyy to much time in the planner looking for an AoV + Divine sacrafice build and this is just what I've found. Not saying it can't be done, I just haven't found a way that seemed worth it to me.

    Edit: This was my 1st thread on the subject...I tried for a dual AoV approach for more gains by passing the crawn to each other...as you can see, I gave up on the pali AoV, but the AA AoV is still viable.

    Default updated build (no longer defender)

    so i wanted to try something similar as above but with evasion. obviously ud have to lose the fp and t. sheild so i swapped out defender for hunter of the dead (wanted KotC but i couldnt take the fvs sp line for that pre And the pally sp line for KotC ) so with that in mind i decided to try and get some decent healing amp. i dont know how the healing amp math works but id assume its better than nothing. had to lose a point of con and afew in cha to get the dex for all three twf feats for monk unarmed to be worth anything but ah well. so now were lookin at pally divin sacrifice strikes with the light dmg amped from the aov pre. added stunnin fist instead of stunnin blow since id be unarmed and would probably have a better dc anyways. afew other changes in there but over all i think its viable.

    i hear ya about the building bein very ap tight and likely not worth the investment but ive been playin since 06 and sometimes need a break from the cookie cutter builds. i enjoy makin my own builds or tweaking one from the forums. its really whats kept me playin this long. i appreciate ur input though. like i said, i may not even roll it up. its just one ive been thinking about for afew days.

    By all means let me know how it goes, I play this game to have fun, not min/max All of my builds have flavor...just the PnP in me. I'll dig up my notes on my try on the build later to see if there is anything I missed. AP's are tight, but do-able.

    Edit: Is missing out on Zeal and Holy Sword a big deal for your monk splashed version ?

    I have also played with this idea, and would love to see if you can get a viable build out of it. I know this might be completly off topic but... 14 Pali/6 monk for Zeal and wind stance 2 and you can go anyway on this tankish with DoS, Heal amp with HotD, and good DPS with KotC

    will be lvling it asap. rolled up the evasion ver. afew mins ago. will post on here now and then with updates on how its goin. what works, what isnt. may take some time since ive got a ton of alts all over the place lvl wise. thanx for the input. will think on the zeal idea.
