    Default Gianthold Armor upgrades

Was talking with a guildie about some gianthold armors and how horrible they are for their level. The relic turn in armors have the worst grind to benefit factor of anything in the game. Lets take an example:

Giantcrafted Docent - +5 enhancement, Moderate fort, Shield spell 3 charges 1 minute duration.

In one level most people will have a minos anyhow so the moderate fort is useless. The clickie is good for magic missile but at only one minute you can grab any shield clickie off of the AH and use that.

So essentially you are getting a +5 docent that takes awhile to farm out and then is near useless for a clickie.

My suggestion for the above would be to make the shield clickie a little longer (level 10 like the docent) and nobody will complain about grabbing it. Except for that, how about a small stacking str bonus (+1?) or a combination of some unique effects like blood rage or something that will make you seem strong. Giants are not masters of AC or fortification so this docent would be great to be a DPS solution until dragontouched.

If you guys have a good suggestion I'd like to hear it

Every single one of the gianthold items are useless, except possibly that elven crafted one for mages.

Would never bother wasting that many relics on any of them. Kind of wonder why they're even there, is it a joke, or a trap?

I suppose when Epic Gianthold comes around they'll address it.

You're forgetting one thing - not everyone has Necro4 or head slot reserved for minos, especially with CC hats flying around. Though I do agree that the duration of the shield clickie is pretty laughable.

I agree. I had a guildie that wanted to help me get a minos. I told him I didn't want it because I'd lose the really nice pirate hat that gives me a +6 to STR and a +15 to Haggle.

the elf craft stuff is a nice cheap alternative for a caster type till you get a better named arcane lore item/blue scale armor etc. the rest are essentially just for now.

Some of these items had their uses back when GH was End Game. Obviously the game has grown
    past them.

I doubt that there is any need to upgrade them, even if GH goes epic in the future. The named
items from the primary quests, pre/raid will be a considerable amount for all.
You see in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

Very sad for someone who farms up 20 relics and wastes em... I think they should be looked at again by item devs...

A heavy fort item is level 10 (or is it 8?). So that could be on a belt or docent/armor. By the time somebody grinds out the relics they can buy a cheaper level 12 or 14 one that has a skill at the end.

I also wouldn't count event items when I make a character. I don't wanna wait 1/2 a year for that hat but its nice when it comes along

Curious since this was before my time . . . but were they more useful at the time the cap was lower? I see that they provided some consolidation but I am not completely aware of what your options were back then.

Outfits with Heavy Fort come as early as level 8, plus you can get a Nightforge Gorget with a ML of 9. You have to bear in mind though that those turn-ins are hardly named loot. As for grinding out the relics - given the great xp/min most of GH walkups have most people are going to be swimming in them before they know it.

I just finished collecting enough relics to get some of these armors just to see what the look like and what their stats are. They look like they were really useful at one time, but I think they need some beefing up now. Seems a shame to let them go to waste because I really like the looks of some of them.

Necro 4 didnt exist when these were released. Minos didnt exist. the level cap was 14.

There are literally dozens, if not hundreds of items that are not "Good" anymore when you start comparing them to what is out nowadays.
