Default Old School Npc's from old school D & D Adventures

Saw a cool post last night about spells that would really be neat to add to DDO...for example

    Mirror Image
    Dancing Lights
    Evards Black Tentacles
    Push(1st ed spell)
    Wizard Eye
    Rarys Mnemonic Enhancer
    Prismatic Spray
    Prismatic Wall

Anyway..I started to thinking of some of the old Adventures that some of us old timers went through and would be cool to see on DDO...plus if anyone can actually remember notable npc's from these modules would be cool to have as adversaries or recurring enemies...here is a partial list of some of my faves

    The danger at Dunwater series
The Hidden Shrine of tamochan....rogues freakin nightmare
The Drow series....Queen of the Demonweb pits to name one...Shrine of the Kuo-Toa for another
    The Temple of Elemental Evil....
Tomb of Horrors....This one we need as a Epic only dungeon....hella yeah...
Ravenloft the module/Adventure that started the entire Ravenloft series...great one there...
Tomb of the Lizard King...We need lizardmen....
Keep on the Borderlands...as an intro
Any of the Giant series...very fun...very painful i recall
    Desert of Desolation series
Against the Cult of the reptile god...
Quest of the Heartstone...really cool illustrations with action figures...kinda neat..

Plus any other ones the old timers out there could answer....would love to see it someday...however...

Anyone remember all the favorite npc from any of the above mentioned or others...Strahd is one of my favorites..

There's some backstories on the spellmakers of greyhawk that made famous spells named after them.
Melf, Mordenkainen, Leomund, Otiluke, Tenser, Bigby, Evard, and so many others.
Think they are all on wikipedia, there's a link to the full list of them in there.
(was stated in some FR book that their fame tracended greyhawk and spread into Toril and now Eberron).

Found while googling up Tenser ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenser )
Looked it up since people keep saying transformation is underpowered i figured Tenser wasn't doing too well.
He had a nice career start with floating disk but was transformation the last famous spell he did?
Occurs to me he could very well have died while testing out his transformation spell and playing battlemage.
Altough was eventually raised from death, or rather cloned, as was their usual revival method for wizards.
(we wf wizards need that clone spell!)

Tenser seems to have gone on retirement after that big adventure but never got to improve transformation.
Not that he didn't tried, as evidenced by floating disk, greater :/
On comparison Otiluke had much more success, giving us various cold based goodies.

Maybe we can have some spell crafting in DDO
I mean, who is that guy Eladar?? his electric surge got popular these days.

Seems like I recall an early TSR supplement called "Rogue's Gallery" that had bios on some of the PCs played by the likes of Gygax and other originals. It made for some interesting reading, as I incorporated a few of them into my Greyhawk campaign.

A bit later on, Allen Hammack, one of the very early players, moved here to Birmingham and opened a gaming shop. I had the chance to play in a group that he DM'ed for a while and he loved to talk about playing with Gygax and that bunch.

As for spells I'd like to see in the game- Polymorph Self and Polymorph Other.

Shady Dragon Inn was another full of NPC"s that had backstories..plus the map of the inn was cool.

Remember the Elminster quote? Something close to:

I still recall one of the first NPC guides that included game designer toons. Cheesy qualifiers like the uber sword that could never be stolen by players because it would always teleport back to the dev. Cheese.

You left out White Plume Mountain. No list is complete without it.

Who can forget Blackrazor? I think every group I've ever played in had one.

Some of them also featured in the TSR's AD&D Endless Quest books.
I was sold into D&D with the one about the Tarrasque and the Mantle of the Archmages.
To this day i have no clue what game world was that, only that the main villain was a half-drow follower of Lolth.

He wasn't even a full drow! yet made an wonderful depiction of the dark elves.
But it was a trilogy with a very well done story you had to run multiple times to catch all the bits.

Everything D&D was in there, your party, the various allies, planar travelling, etc.
There's a few side confrontations where you can't win, such as with archdemon Pazuzu or a priestess of Lolth.
And Carr Delling was an amazing wizard, from his studies in his tower, through all the travellings, to the actual fight in the buried temple.

I'd love to see the old D&D modules made into quest areas and dungeons for DDO.

I also loved the old Rogue's Gallery. That book was one of the most useful items ever released for any edition of D&D.

Coming in Update 11: Keep on the Borderlands.

    That would be awesome.
