Khyber -- Grubbby, Grubonon, Gralak, and all the gang of *grubs* in the Homeboys of Stormreach.
Color me confused yet again by the design ideas behind these weapons.
Watcher's Blade - It's an AC builds weapon (curse for more effective AC)...but it is a longsword making it not logical for use by either S&B or dex based builds (and clearly not monks ).
Earthshatter Hammer - Instant kill versus earth elementals or things that you have hit with stone prison sometimes. Kind of cool concept, but unless the proc on the rock shattering effect is high wouldn't you be better off pulling out your dps ele damage weapon?
Fang - Neat a weaker lit 2 scimi alternative...woot?
Unstable Handwraps - Okay it's a devel/demon beater in one that does not bypass dr by itself. Not horrible with a ToD ring, but without one a really questionable item.
Q-Staff - Who uses Q-Staves as dps weapons besides the rare acrobat? Even those would have a hard time getting excited about what basically boils down to a +5 greater aberration bane at level 16.
Now the non-weapons look much more reasonable.

Those handwraps... they look lacking to say the least, they look like they have alot on them, but that's only because the text is so long. If you look at it for what it really is, you're getting 2 effect applying at ANY one time, which isn't alot.
First of all, they need to be greater banes or maybe True Chaos, and True Law.
Secondly maybe give them the metalline effect, shifting metals sounds like it could work(to offer a DR bypasser) and THEN you have a pretty good item.
Also, that shard looks delicious, if/when you get a beholder it would hopefully be a neg leveling machine.
Yeah the design behind most of this stuff is puzzling, alot of it seems to fit no weapon role that im aware of. Has anyone had a chance to take screencaps of any of the abilities which can be added to the various items?
I'm also curious to see if there is a flesh shaper's robe/armor and what happens where you equip the staff at the same time.
All of these are weird and unimpressive...
Anyone see the updated items from U9. I'm curious to see how they update the items with the trace of madness like the Beholder Plate/Docent
People have been complaining for several years about the dominace of GS items and the desire for weapon/armor options.
The last few updates is the devs answer to this.
These are not horrible items and appear to be a good option for those newer players who have not completed 600+ shrouds and have endless shroud ingredients(except for those elusive LDSs).

PESTILENCE
Fang of Siberys: The power totally depends on the proc rate for Peals of Thunder. It could be a good DPS weapon, with the interesting drawback of requiring a ramp-up time to get to 3x peals, so it'd only be useful on big bosses.
Nature's Vengeance: It's bad because quarterstaff = weak and sunburst = weak. Might have a little value rerunning elite U10 dungeons, if the boss has high AC or something.
Unstable Handwraps: Pretty good damage source for devils and demons, which remain important foes at these levels. Of course you'd want another source of Good/Silver damage, but they exist. Quori too.
Watcher's Blade: An important item for a rare character- a newbie AC tank who doesn't have t3 Shroud loot, because +4 AC is a key part of getting decent AC. And Cursespewing stacks with your AC. Of course it has really bad DPS, so you couldn't hold aggro as a tank, but you can hold it as you slowly slowly solo the mobs. (Also works as a stat stick for Cleric/FVS spell DCs)

The docents are nice, especially since they're upgradable. There's a lack of cool docents between levels 12 and pre-epic 20. You're pretty much going to use Quorforged or Dragontouched. It'll be nice to have other options (depending on what the upgrades do).
Everything else . . . needs work.
I love the docent with disintegrate guard already. Good Dragontouched replacement I guess.
The hammer looks very nice as a vorpal replacement without the HP cap limitation of post-U9 vorpals. I could see dual-wielding these as an effective option at end game, especially in conjunction with effects to lower saves.

How about the MindFury Symbiot? Anyone check to see if that was dropping?

Is there a possibility that Turbine is drawing some from some D&D 4.0 inspiration? I realize they don't have the same ability function - but I couldn't help noticing a resemblance to our Wolf Shaman's familiar At-Will:
