That's an issue with repeated play of static quests, not direct features of those traps or situations.

I'm sure many people have been in that situation and have died to the elementals in Rainbow for lack of foreknowledge of the quest.

Also, I'll say that any object that turns out to be a mimic should be restored to its original, intended object, after the mimic dies. It shouldn't rob a party of a chest, collectible or shrine if they bother to kill it.

    That would be true awesomesauce.

Its a joke. It would be cool though, well, everything except losing raid chests and selling mimic begone.
there's one thing you never put in a trap if you're smart. If you value your continued existence. If you have any plans on seeing tomorrow then there's one thing you never, ever put in a trap.

If you bless a mimic you get dominated and start beating on the closest caster. Said caster being a party member does not prevent this effect.

I'm not excited. Knowing Turb, they will put it in one specific place. After your first run, or even on the first run if you have a "guide", you'll know where it is. Meh... Turb wants you to memorize, not react.

Shrine's might be pushing it too much into something the majority of people wouldn't like.

But chests, collectable node furnature, blastable doors, switches, levers, barrels!, boxes, trap boxes!!!
    Awesomeness!

    Plenty of real good locations.

But lets start with chests. Get that workin great first. And then sprinkle in the others.

We have those already. But being invisible... most people have no idea where they exist in game.

    Thank you FF.

    If you take anything away from this thread, let it be this;

We are VERY excited to see more iconic DnD monsters!

If you have not already, PLEASE do not limit Mimics to U10 content. If at all possible, please find a way for them to appear in ALL content.

Reminds me of running White Plume Mountain in pen and paper when the party came to a portcullis... mimics can take many forms

That'd be truly the awesomest. Chests sitting where they always do, but sometimes get attacked by it. Only gain access to the real chest after defeating the mimic'd version.

    (I feel dev eyes lurking...)

Meh, don't like chance on Mimics when doing lootruns. In general fine and fun for first time but I hope Mimics are just a well placed obstacle and not a real lootkiller.

If they were to have a random mechanic for Mimics replacing chests game-wide (perhaps level dependent) - I'd like to also see that when the Mimic dies, the regularly scheduled loot is um... removable... from the Mimic's innards.

I'd hate to be going for a Bloodstone, get a Mimic at Thirty's chest... and then have no shot at the 'stone.

Just my thoughts on the matter, but objects in my mirror may be closer then they appear - or so I'm told.

I really hope that this isnt the case...

It would be sooooo much cooler if mimics were randomly generated replacing various chests through out every dungeon. lol, Imagine finishing shroud, looking for a large scale and instead you get a mimic chest you have to fight off after half the group has recalled out.... Oh how sweet it would be!

Who knows, after killing the mimic, the original comes with a +2 bonus loot?
