    Default Byoh all the way...

    Hello!
I'm Miahoo, and recently I've rolled a toon in khyber.
    ~WARNING! A long post ahead!~ ~With some bad English~

You'll mostly see my LFMs as "byoh, ip", its not because I'm a bad person, I really aint, actually, I'm a nice guy (at least I think I am), It just, I really belive, that any quest is byoh! (while byoh = bring your own heals).
What will you do when the healer is dead/out of sps/out of view/lost/etc.. ? I can think of 3 possibilities:
    1) Die. 2) Stand in place and SCREAM! 3) Byoh.
Do you really enjoy waiting lots of minutes for a healer to join? A group yesturday was wating for a healer for gwylans stand, I made a byoh group. They got their healer by the time I finished my 2nd run.
(In this very group, a barb-fighter join in. I ask him: "Do you have your own heals?", He say: "Sure, 100". Never ever saw him drink a pot, even when his HP got to 10%.... yep, I write bring your own heals, I didnt say use them... /sigh).

It not takes much to byoh, all you need is (more or less):
    - 10 CSW pots for emergencies.
    - 20 CMW pots in fights.
    - 100 CLW pots between fights
UMD or a class that can use wands, can buy some wands (cost much less). Pots and wands have different timers - you have no idea how fast you can top your HP with those two being only CLW.
That will cost ya ~1k pp for every 2-5 or even 6-8 quests. I dont see how one cant afford 1k pp every few quests. (And I'm saying this from the point of view of a new-guy in this server).

So I rolled my toon in khyber, and I'm really trying to be nice to get some friends to run with. Unlike in cannith, where I have my guild, my gear, my buffs, my friends and my little kingdom - I admit sometimes, when I'm in a very bad mood, I do act like an *** (altough when i notice it I avoid groups and prefer to solo - common, we all have this bad day of the month!).

Two days ago, I put an LFM for redwillow: "byoh, ip".
3 guys are joining, and stuff going great! until some monk join in..:
    Monk: hi.
    Me and others: hi.
    Monk: Where are you?
    Me: Inside.
    Monk: share please.
No comment from any of the guild.
    Monk: share please.
    Monk: share?
    Monk: share!
(Party) You dismiss Monk from the party.

I can accept "Hey, I dont know/remember where the quest is, can you please share it?", belive me, if I'm alone there I'll even recall, remake the party and escort ya to the enterance. Its all about attitude.

So yesturday (the reason I made this post) I put VoN 1 LFM, you guess right: "byoh, ip".
A ranger form in, I click accept.
Ranger: omw, need to get hireling.
    Me: No hirelings please.
Ranger: I'm sorry, so what byoh means?
Me: byoh = bring your own heals, usually pots and wands are enough.
This is fully acceptable. the guy thought the 'h' means hireling, and even ask about it! +1 for him!
    -- 'till here all fine.

A rog form in, I accept.
2 minutes later, the rog go incapp. Which is wierd because I was sure I cleared most of the quest.
    Me: What happened?
Rog: Sorry, some trolls got me.
So me and other fvs -(which was really great! him and other tr-barb join me for the rest of VoN flag - ty guys! I had much fun playin with you!)- went for the rescue.
We get to him and heal him (phew.. he didnt died), and kill the mobs.
Me: Please follow us and stay behind.
Him: What do you want?! I was facing 4 of them until I got incapp! AT ONCE!!
This totally cracks me up.. ok Miahoo, calm down.. dont be a jerk. You need to make some friends here...
So after 2 minutes I say:
    Me: Only 4? :P
Ranger: Leader, are you alwase that @#$%^ or only at tusedays?
Ranger: Never mind, I figure myself.
    ----
I still didnt figure out what the @#$%^ was, as I always translate @#$% or **** to the F word, but this was 5 letters... (maybe the B word?)
5 seconds after we kill the last boss and someone take the axe.
Me: Why did you take it?!
Rog: Because... thats what you supposed to do??
I dismess the ranger and the rogue right as they recall. I know, I might seem to be a real @#$%^ in here, so let me explain...
I have no problem with people to die, myself died in VoN3 later on because of a beholder FOD me... !!! A total noob moment, such a stupid way to die. I have problem with people not listen and cover their acts with ****.
Really... 4 trolls?!? ok, you cant beat them - I accept it, but dont ***** me over the party chat.
Taking the axe... sigh... cant you wait 1 more minute for us to get 10% more xp? not a big deal... but again, dont ***** me in the party chat!

    Anyway...
Other than that, I met two great guys yesturday, it was fun!
Look me up in khyber... dont forget to byoh

/Cool story for my 400th count

i still do not understand the concept of booting people who say "share plz".

its funner to just share the 30 quests you have.

I'm going to assume your join date doesn't represent how long you've been playing as I've read several of your posts and they don't seem to be written by a noob or a newb.

While I agree with you ideas on BYOH. I'd strongly recommend you reconsider the hireling part of it. For a new person a hireling costs way less plat than pots and wands for heals. They can always be dismissed for another player to join and your LFM can stay up even if the party is filled due to hirelings. You will find that you can get thru a quest easily 2X faster by having a hireling on your hip. This is beacause you don't have to slow down to heal yourself. Any curses, diseases, blindess, poison, etc. the healer will take off of you the instant it lands on you. Way before you can even click it from your hot bar and remove it on your own.

An example my tr'd fighter is level 12 with 400+hp. If I get in a tough fight and drop to 3/4 hp my from damage. It's going to take a very long time to pot & wand (I can use wands) myself up 300 hp even if I do it on the run. I'm not going to have my HP topped off by the time I get to the next fight. If I have a pocket healer. While I'm running to the next fight he's going to heal me. Without even telling him to heal me. I'll be topped off long before I get to the next fight without slowing down for a second.

Using a pocket healer/hireling allows quests to get done way faster, newbies and other save a ton of plat, you can still have a few new people join your group to make friends and you won't get mad at people for getting killed because it's not likely to happen which means more XP at the end of a quest.

    Just my 2cp.

Actually, I am new to this game - playing for a year.
Like (most of) everybody else, I had a hard start, rolled my toon 7 times, until finally bulding a great rogue (my only capped atm).

    I fully agree with you!
But... I have a serious mental problem with hirelings. They all in my DNG list. I know, I know, My psychiatrist is working on it. But currently I cant stand running with them! (At some rare occasions I use them for levers and runes, parking them at the entrance, call them when I need them, then dismiss them).

I was running with them in the past, and all I remember is that I spent more time taking care of them than just solo my way...

I think the last time I run with one was on Reclamation.
I remember him stuck in the water, keep swimming to different locations and refusing to shrine - then dive back to the water.
And at LAST!! right before the end fight, he gets in, aggro EVERYTHING, and comming back to us, causing a shrine fight and almost a wipe (and yes, he was on defensive mode).

If I join a group - sure, I'll accept anything (beside me to carry a hireling - I refuse to pay for those ******* [I think hireling should cost minus pp. really, sometimes we should be paid for grouping with them]).
But in my party, I really dont wanna see one around...

    [QUOTE=MiahooJunk;3832066]Ty Eric! (thats Eric, right?)

    Yes that's correct.

Aa far as the hirelings go. I'd strongly suggest you give it another try. They bumped up the AI on them and they work far better now. My only gripe is they stick right at your hip and can take some splash damage from enemies using two handed weapons. That's an easy fix. Just make them stop upon entering a fight and then move a tiny bit away. You'll stay healed and healer won't get damaged.

Set them to offense and then right back to defense, and you'll get more room, too.

Not only do they stand right on your hip, they are always staring at you. It's creepy. They get right up in your personal space and stare at you like a tween girl at a Justin Bieber concert. It unnerves me. There's 20 mobs around us swinging blades and this fool is doing the lovestruck puppy thing.

My clerics love jumping in BOYH quests. It means I get to use destruction and implosion instead of passing out CSWs to the zergers. If, as my clerics, join a BOYH, don't ask for them.

    Hahaha... sounds like good times.

You should see a decline in some of the oddball behavior in the level 12+ range. The biggest offenders don't often make it that far.

Had an interesting Shadow Crypt run last night when I joined a pug on my wiz. Everything was pleasant and ran smoothly until Mr ranger joined. Then hilarity ensued. I spent a lot of the subsequent runs lmao at him but remaining as helpful as I could be to the rest of the party.

Funny stuff to me how someone joins a run and tries to change everything about how the quest is being run.

Wait, We talking about khyber right? since i get these 240hp no fort wearing ppl joining my lvl 18+ BYOH runs.. all the dckin time

    @Doug
I Agree, when i have up a BYOH run and we get a healer, i kick anyone who expects that healer to become a healbot on the run. but it is sad that ppl see a healer and think its not a BYOH run anymore and joins then dies:'(

    @DDOplayer

What does that have to do with the price of tea in china? this is america, we drink Kool-aid.
And to answer your question. a arcane without haste is a arcane thats about to be booted.

I knew it was going to be interesting when I took notice that the human ranger had less hp than my drow wizzy. Not to mention the lack of ghost touch weapons and non stop tells begging for buffs.

I was like, yeah... good luck with that.

Hey I'm like you, I accidently tr'd my name sake charater from the iconic bard to a wizard.. (don't ask DON'T ASK!) Until I reached level 10 I ignored that little spell that I scribed into my book. I spent the last 5 years hasting and healing. I want to NOT worry about that anymore! I just want to launch spells that will do some dinky damage at least more then Shout and greater shout! At 10 I started using haste when I felt like it but never when asked, most of the group learns when I will cast the next haste and moves to MY beat! I have my Air GS item back I save SP and just use that now for longer hastes as I lack extend right now hehe.
