Ya those were not hockey fans. The people in the building were hockey fans. I was amazed by the standing O that the Bruins got at the end. The cheers from the Canucks fans were almost as goods as the B's would have gotten at home. The roar that Chara, Thomas and Luch got was crazy. Almost as good as the Boos for Bettman

Chara and Thomas got them for obvious reasons, and Luch cause he's a home grown celeb.

The better team won, and the fans recognized that. That was extremely classy of them.

Can't believe the morons on the outside that participated in the chaos didn't realize that it is no longer a mob thing where you blend in with the crowd with all the camera's around.

I hope they are brought to justice, and would be funny if they get booked due to facebook and youtube clips taken by their friends!!

Since I am too wrapped up in DDO, one of my early thoughts after watching the Bruins win was "I have seen some guy on the DDO forums using Cam Neely as his name, he must be very happy!"

As for the rioting.... hey: it happens all the time in different sports in different cities; it's just that because the microscope is on the canucks that everyone sees it. Are you telling me Boston police weren't out making sure the celebrations were kept civil?

I will say one very important thing that one brings up:

The playoff beards this year were exceptional. Regardless of the team and how long they were in the playoffs for, almost every team had 4 or 5 players who were follically superb. There were some notable absenses, but over all, the quality of folicle prowess was tremendous!

Some hard lessons were learned, including one death after the first Red Sox championship so now they are ready and keep things from getting out of hand in the first place.

Yes the police shot one women in the face with a 'non lethal' weapon and killed her, and another man died while handcuffed face down on the ground in the last few years after big wins. Many people (myself included) would not go out because of the tactics encouraged to 'control' people.

My friends and I ran down to Fenway when the Sox won the '86 pennant. That was enough, it was fun but even then the Police were marching down the street and on horses etc. I am all set with that now, more fun watching on TV, with DDO close at hand

I think alot of it is Canadians know and love hockey. Bettman has expanded the league to get more money, and its really hurt the talent pool that play. More over, hes been for expanding in areas where there is a rich ownership group, and not fans, which has hurt the league.

More over he is the end all of the NHL. He is the boss. And in recent years the product has been bad in the form of bad consistency with enforcement. The NHL should be a top league, but due (in many peoples eyes) its a distant 4th due to leadership.

Seeing some of the pictures of the riot in Vancouver, I'd rather security be a bit tighter to discourage rioting than to have so much freedom as to allow destruction of property, looting, and assault...

Couldn't have said it better.

Hockey fans see Bettman as worse than the Devil, for allowing teams like Atlanta, Florida, Phoenix to try over and over to get a fanbase that cares about the game, while cities in Canada are burning to get franchises that possibly could be more viable (Winnipeg, Quebec City, Hamilton).

Unfortunately, Bettman is trying to follow the NFL and NBA model of teams in key demographic areas for TV revenue, but sadly Hockey will always be relegated below franchises from those leagues, not to mention the MLB.

Being from Toronto it is disappointing from a hockey perspective to not have another team that could sell out, in Ontario to challenge the Leaf organization to field a better quality of play.

The mess in Vancouver or Boston at any time wouldn't rival the chaos that would ensue if the Leafs ever made the finals. Fortunately (or not, depends on perspective) this will most likely never happen in my lifetime the way it stands.
