Rumor has it bettman (spits 3 times) promised us a move back to the eastern finals the next time a spot opened , but all speculation is this will never happen because so many teams need the wings to play in their stadium to fill it up form time to time. Phoniex actally charges more for tickets when the wings play than other teams (not sure if they do this for any other teams as well).

Add to that how dominate the Wings would be in the East, and I doubt it would happen... how could the eastern teams with the star players the NHL is marketing ever succeed?

But it is great hockey to watch.
Agreed: Detroit isn't going anywhere.... sorry. Don't get me wrong: I'd love for them to move to a lower pit in Hell.... but that's a sidepoint.....

Detroit to the east is just something I can't see it happening... there's changes and then there's shakeups and then there's blowing the whole thing up. Replacing Atlanta, a consistantly underachieving, low tier team in the East.... with one of the top teams in the West, if not the whole NHL, for the past 15 years is too uber of a shift.... every team in the Eastern conference with SC aspirations would put up roadblocks left right and centre for this. Detroit would own the East for years. Sorry, but it's true.

Columbus would be an equitable move... they're just as crappy as Atlanta was. Nashville maybe. But Detroit, ach du lieber, that would be too much of a shake up.

    Both correct.

My prediction? Bruins remember how to dump and chase away from home and win it. 3-1

So Cam, how do you feel about all of the stuff BOS gets away with because Campbell's boy plays for BOS?

I don't know...for everything Boston gets away with...it seems that there is a lot of 'soccer coaching' of what to do when the big guy hits you.

Considering Mike Murphy is in charge of discipline in the series and Shanahan is taking over Campbell's job.... I think Collie Campbell has had no choice but to sit back, relax, put on his harness, put on the velcro gloves, get a case of KY, and a kennel of fluffy dogs for this series.

ha, get out the tinfoil, and i dont mean for under the gloves

Boston plays rough hockey. They dont skate as well, and dont have great hands top to bottom as other teams that go deep in the playoffs. The Campbell thing is not relevant, the disciplinarian Campbell has been on vacation since the stanly cup started, he has nothing to do with any decision since it started.

Ill assume you are talking about the Raymond thing vs Horton. Really sucks for Raymond, that was a weird accident, probably an interference call, but not a suspension, Boychuk could have really hit him into the boards, but let up, and it was just a bad way to go into the boards. Not comparable at all to the Horton hit, which was 1+second late and Rome left his feet (something that is never talked about). For a long time, leaving your feet to do a hit gets you suspended. They gave it 4 games (to long) cause NHL dropped the ball on the bite thing, and that got more media coverage then the game. They wanted to overcompensate for that. 2 game suspension max.

The Cunucks and Canadians brought it on their self. They flop everywhere, so these calls that they should get, they dont. If they stood up and played hockey, the refs would not hold the whistle.

Hockey is a man's game. Take a hit, dish it back out. If you have an issue, drop the gloves and settle it right there.

The flopping that Vancouver used throughout the playoffs finally has had a boot thrown down on the throat. This is not the Premiere Leauge playoffs here.

Boston needs to remember what got them to this point. They need to play smart through the neutral zone, dump and chase and finish thier checks.

Don't worry about Thomas being overaggressive, thats what got you to this point.

To hear Luongo talk smack about the "soft goal" Thomas let up in game 5 is, simply put, pathetic. Thomas has allowed what, 7 goals in 6 games? Seems to me Luongo gave up 12 in just 2. Maybe homeboy should shut his yap and concentrate a bit more, no?

Anyway, Boston wins tonight, 4-2 after scoring 2 goals within the first 10 minutes of the first period.

/my opinion and I'm sticking with it.

I'm just a slightly disgruntled TB fan, stirring the pot. My Campbell comment is more of a general statement, not specifically regarding the play-offs.

I'm still a bit peeved that Horton got a quiet slap-on-the-wrist for his water bottle incident, when the precedent was already set that physically interacting with a spectator will get you at least a 1-game suspension. I don't condone anyone throwing anything on the ice, but there were BOS fans as well as TB fans tossing those things.

Re: Canadian teams and their penchant for diving. One has to look no further that TOR to see that clearly. There's a little joke on the local message board about the XO Sniper. A section of the Club level at the Forum used to be called the XO Club, and when TOR was in town, the way TOR players would go spinning down to the ice it looked like they got shot by a sniper. Good times.

Re: Luongo. Screw that loser. I hope he never even sniffs a trophy ever again. BTW, the term 'shut your yap' is owned by TB's ex-coach, John Tortorella. He told Ken Hitchcock, then of PHI, what to do with his words in the 2004 play-offs. A thing of beauty I tell ya'.

    Way to stay classy Vancouver.

BTW, I think if TB made it past BOS, they would have rolled over VAN and won their second Cup.
