    Default Guild ship/buffs problems.

I've read several threads where some players aren't happy about the time it takes to get party members to a quest because they're "just grabbing ship buffs". Others say the ship buffs are an easy button. Not sure about that, I'd say they're in the game to stay and someone's done the work to earn and use them so why not use them?

    How's this sound?

The first mate you use to make the hook-points visible needs another bit of dialogue:

    ___________________________________________

Do ya wanna use all our resources?

    Yeah?

    No?

    ____________________________________________

With the "yes" you get every 1 hour buff immediately.

If you only want to use specific buffs then go get the ones you want as normal or perhaps even have a de-select/select all as with creating an lfm when you speak to the first mate. Also the training dummy would be usable same as ever.

The whole thing would need nothing more than a few changes to the dialogue of the first mate and would speed up questing and party waits a huge amount.

Since when has efficiency been classed an an easy button? I don't believe it is...

    Yeah, sure, why not.

Do expect a lot of "Why not just have the finish game button" posts though.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Yeah sure some always do but the point is that the buffs are there, that won't change.

The point of what I'm suggesting is a much quicker and simpler than searching a ship you may not know for the buffs. If you're going to get them, why not get them immediately if they're there anyway.

Those calling ship buffs an easy button are entitled to their opinion and to a point I agree but my idea is simply that they're there, let's just speed them up.

The running around when the buffs are pair for and spread around seems daft to me.

While being a fine idea, I have the feeling it is all a heck of a lot more complicated than that. Each hookpoint would have to tell the kobold what is currently linked or somesuch, and then the kobold would freeze up trying to figure out what was on the boat. My guess is it would pretty much require redoing the whole system. But, not being much of a programmer, I can only infer from what I have read about other changes to the game in the past.

Perhaps an alternate solution, which I have read proposed several times and heartily agree with, is to stop the timer on ship buffs when in public areas. There is already a mechanic for this ingame, with items like the xp potions, so I assume the code is all there and ready for them to use. This would allow folks to get their buffs ahead of time, instead of waiting till the last person joins the pug.

Also a fine idea but it doesn't attend to the major problem of which I see much more mention of which is groups waiting for people and party members wanting to use another members' guild ship. I see this causing much more agro than anything else.

Id be fine with menue like in house P/J, then i wouldnt need to run and i would be able to get buffs quickly.

It is my humble observation that the problem is with some players wanting to be elitist, not with the ship buffs themselves, which, unfortunately is an incurable affliction.

As it stands the only ship buff that takes more then half a second to get is the dummy and if you skip that one, it takes you all of maybe 1 min to get a full line of ship buffs, and if you have a Nav that can shorten your time to get to the quest anyway, as you only need to: Jump to ship > Get Buffs > Jump to Quest Zone. as opposed to Zone several times and maybe run through an outdoor zone to get to the quest.

But on the other hand, ways to speed things up are always welcome.

Not really on my must have list, but nothing wrong with idea either. I just don't think it will solve anything or stop the whiners.

While this is a relatively good idea, in my experience it would only shave mere minutes off getting a group gathered at the entrance. If I'm among those who are waiting I usually use the time to perform a little maintenance on my character, such as examining what's in my inventory, rearranging my shortcuts a little or ducking into a nearby pub to change out one or two different spells.

    Overall, I'll sign it.
