    Default 12 Bard/6 Sorc/2 Rogue?

    Before I spend an hour or more making this, I'm asking you all this: would a 12 Bard/6 Sorc/2 Rogue be a viable build?

    What I'm looking for is a character that can self-heal, buff the party, have full rogue skills and UMD, and the offensive abilities come from the spells.

    I'm not even sure how to begin building something like this. Help and/or protests against this are appreciated.

    6 levels of sorc is pretty weaksauce in the form of buffs and/or spell casting in general. what are you trying to get out of the 6 splash out of curiosity? As a bard you get pretty much all the arcane buffs you would want anyways, minus energy resistances of course (which are replaced with ship buffs now anyways).

    12 bard can be a decent multiclass, but you would be surprised how well bards perform at a much smaller splash (like 15,16 or 18 levels of bard - even 20)

    Short answer, no. Long answer, HELL NO!

    Look for a Rog/Wiz (WF or PM) or Rog/Bard (more likely fleshie) for what you want.

    Hardly: those 6 sorcerer levels kinda gimp the entire build .

    As for self-healing, buffs, trap capabilites and UMD, there are several multiclassed bard-rogue builds that can achieve those targets; check the bard forums.

    As for offensive casting, those 6 sorcerer levels aren't gonna provide you any reliable long-term (i.e. that works at high level) offensive casting capability.

    Thanks for the feedback, everyone. The biggest doubt I had with this was the Sorc levels (I have never played a caster past level 2). Apparently, my doubts were justified.

    I'm thinking now of a TWF Drow Bard/Rogue (Drow because I don't have 32-point builds available. What would be a good level split to go for? 18/2?

    I'm also considering Bard 12/Ftr 6/Rog 2, for a bit better melee capabilities and survivability. My only concern is that I don't believe fighters get a lot of skill points per level, and I'd be needing a lot for what I'm going for.

    I'll fiddle around with both those ideas tomorrow and post my results.

    I would go as 18/2 bard/rogue. Bards are tricky because they have one really defined role that almost all bards are good at by default, that is buffing. They then have a bunch of other roles that they can be good at if they focus on it, such as crowd control, healing, melee (or possibly ranged with Arcane Archer), and trapsmithing with a rogue splash.

    The only thing they seem to be bad at is doing direct damage with their spells. If you want spell dps, you are better off with a wizard, sorcerer or even a favored soul.

    However, they can't have it all, and have to decide what they are going to give up and what they will be good at beforehand. The good news is that this means bards are a varied bunch, and that parties won't expect you to do anything except for buffing, leaving you free to make a bard how you choose.

    Anyway, in general you don't want less than 14 bard levels, as it cuts into your one expected primary role, that of buffing the party because of a weak inspire courage and no 5th level spells. 14 bard/6 melee class work nicely as warchanter bards, and are usually made with relatively low charisma and higher strength and constitution. If you are going for more healing and crowd control, more bard levels tend to be more useful (although fascinate should be an option for all bards).

    Also, ranger and barbarian splashes will give you more skill points for trapsmithing than fighter splashes, although you won't be able to cast while raged.

    That's the 18/2 build I came up with. I'm not terribly happy about how the feats were chosen, to be honest, but oh well. Thoughts and suggestions?

    This is the first time I've built a Bard, by the way. I probably screwed up on a bit of it.

    EDIT: I forgot; I meant to fit in a Con tome at level 7. He'd be a bit squishy otherwise.

    I've been leveling a TWF 17 bard/2 rogue/1 fighter build. Lots of fun. Gives full trap skills, UMD passable melee and full buffs. Does require 32-pt build IMO though. Threw in the fighter level for an extra feat (kopeshes) and martial prof. PM me if you want more details.

    Alright, I wasn't terribly happy with the last build I posted so here's a new one. Instead of going the Warchanter route, I went Spellsinger because I'm wanting to be a bit more of a support class than a melee fighter. Other than that, not much has changed.

    If you're not going for CC spells, you don't need so much base CHA on a bard; the extra SPs & bonus to CHA skills isn't worth the stat pts, IMHO.

    You need to keep Search high as well as Disable; you can't disarm what you can't find.

    I would still recommend a ftr 2 splash on this build, esp. if you want TWF & spellcasting; you can really use the extra feats.

    EDIT: SPs will be a real issue for this build; your SP-regen song will help, of course, but I also recommend getting a Raiyum Torc (ADQ2) and Concordant Opposition GS item for SP-regen-on-hit effects.
