    Default Firefox issues with compendium

    So I think these issues started with firefox 4.. And I get the same problem in chrome (tried latest stable and beta version, same results)

    In the compedium, if I do a search, it always fails. For example I type in:
    In the flesh, hit return..
    Normally this brings up a results page, with no results. No matter what the query, even what should be exact matches to pages, gives no results.
    Just tested it again right now, and actually it just times outs and does nothing for me atm.. but anyways normally I get no results.

    Now alternatively, if I just type in the query, then wait a moment, it dynamically loads some results.. Says In the flesh (quest) or In the flesh (story arc). Clicking on that just fills the box with taht info, so then I hit search....
    Then I get this result:
    Search Results for "In the Flesh (Story_Arc)"

    There is no page titled "In the Flesh (Story_Arc)". You can create this page.
    Error: Unknown XML result type.

    View page source to see the offending XML.

    500
    Viewing the page source doesn't list anything interest about xml files.. Tho here's a bit of it for reference:
    Code:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en" dir="ltr">
      <head>
        <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />

        <meta http-equiv="Content-Style-Type" content="text/css" />
    		<meta name="generator" content="MediaWiki 1.15.0" />
    		<meta name="keywords" content="Special:Search,In the Flesh (Story Arc)" />
    		<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/ddofavicon.ico" />
    		<link rel="search" type="application/opensearchdescription+xml" href="/opensearch_desc.php" title="DDO Compendium (en)" />

    		<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="DDO Compendium RSS Feed" href="/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&amp;feed=rss" />
    		<link rel="alternate" type="application/atom+xml" title="DDO Compendium Atom Feed" href="/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&amp;feed=atom" />
    Vs in internet explorer - things .. sorta work:
    Typing in the flesh, then hitting return does the same thing. Either times out , or returns no results or that xml error.
    Typing it in, then hitting what pops up.. In this case, it pops up differnet results:
    Just "In the flesh (story arc) no (quest). Clicking the story arch automatically links me to the corect page, where I can then click thru and finally reach the page I wanted to view..

    So yea basically the compedium is completely non functional in both firefox and chrome. I'm thinking everyone gets this since I get it on multiple machines?, tho FF 3.0 worked ok..
    Any ideas to fix it or work arounds?

    Well more like my software. Like I said, firefox 4 issues. Worked fine in 3.X for me too, as your running.

    Try to follow what I did step by step tho to see if FF3 has any issues tho since i dont have it install anymore:
    1. click: http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Compendium_Home
    2. click topright search box
    3. type "in the flesh"
    4. hit return
    Results?

    cuz it sounds like you used an actaul search page - which actually does work for me.. Just the homepage searching fails miserable, and getting to the searchpage is a bit slow.

    Oh, that one. I've never seen that work for squat quite honestly, even in 3.x of firefox. I never touch it as that, far as I can tell is linked up to the whole of their web site, not just compendium data.

    you'll find that exact same search box on the front page of www.ddo.com as well.

    um no.. Thats a standard function of every wiki.. And works fine on every other wiki ive ever viisted. visiting a specific search page is very slow and clumsy. the only reason I use the compendium is to quickly check some stuff that doesn't show up on the much superior player wiki. (which isnt much) And it's not quicker if I have to click thru 3+ pages to even begin a search.

    And no, the ddo.com search is 100% unrelated to the compendium. The compedium does not search anything on ddo.com, nor vice versa. Only thign they have in common is that they're both bugged.

    But yea thanks for confirming its broke in firefox 3.x too.

    I tried it with FF 4.0.1 and IE 9.0.8112 64 bit version and all I get is a blank result. Have you tried it ingame? I suspect the compendium itself.
    The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.
