    Default New cheap placeholder races

    Races make Turbine money. I like build options. I'm not fussed at this point if new races don't involve lots of intensive model work. So I propose you add things like;

    • Stick a pair of horns on human and call them Tieflings
    • Squeeze the dwarf model width and height a little and call them Gnomes
    • Most importantly, add whatever easy-to-implement race you can find with a stacking racial bonus to run speed

    Offer these placeholder (likely to be further refined over time) races cheap for now, increase the price later if further dev work is done, and offer coupons for a cheap upgrade to customers who purchased the placeholder race.

    Thoughts? My view is I prefer more options and can wait on the pretty side of things.

    New races would be very nice I dont want the devs to make half measures, I would prefer to wait another few months and have a fully developed new races. I dont want new classes that are half classes.

    I think the devs are doing fine, I was glad that some of the bugs were fixed in the last update and the new crafting system needs some further development.

    I hope that some of the suggestions and promises already made with be followed through upon.

    Let not encourage lackadaisical half-assed work and compliment what already works wells and suggest new content that everyone can enjoy. It has to be about developing a quality product that people are willing to pay.

    There are actualy Tieflings in DDO already, in most of the Vale quests, but as far as 3.5 goes, making Tieflings playable characters would be kind of complicated as we don't have the Evil alignment option

    But this is Eberron, anyways, alignments don't mean ****

    And not all Tieflings are evil anyway.

    And we have precedence for a Level Adjusted race being playable (the drow), so if we did get Tieflings, I'd expect them to be only-28pt.

    But, you know, given the direction of a large part of the game's plot (MASSIVE DEVIL INVASION WITH TIEFLING GROUND TROOPS), I don't think any NPC would trust any tiefling with any quests to save the world anyway.

    (And I'd at least want them to have tails as well.)

    Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a criticism of the devs, just a way to maybe add more choice without too much effort, so it arrives quicker.

    I was only suggesting skimping on modelling work, not the coding of feats etc. or implementation Not half-assed, just cheap to make (bit like the reuse of old art in DD to great effect).

    Yep, that human-with-horns on approach was partly what made me mull this over.
