    Default Potency and Devotion...

    Greetings all,

I have heard several things about potency and devotion items and I am hoping folks here can clear things up for me.

Do potency and devotion items stack?

Do potency items effect "heal" spells? I know they effect "cure" spells but I am wondering about heal and mass heal.

Do the ardor potions stack with potency and devotion items?

Thanks for all insights and help!

No, potency & devotion do not stack.

    Potency affects all spells.

    - Do potency and devotion items stack?

    No, highest applies.

    - Do potency items effect "heal" spells? I know they effect "cure" spells but I am wondering about heal and mass heal.

    Yes, Yes.

    - Do the ardor potions stack with potency and devotion items?

No, and ardour is generally always the higher value. Getting hold of superior ardour clickies is a priority for people who intend to raid heal.

Ardor clickies? Or, are ardor potions also generally acceptable?

No. They're considered the same bonus. Potency is preferred at higher levels as it will boost your Blade Barrier, Cometfall, and Divine Punishment damage as well as boosting your heals.

Yes. You may be thinking of metamagics. Empower and Maximize work on the "cure" chain, but not on Heal or Mass Heal. Empower Healing works on all of them.

Edit: Note that there are only three items in the game that will permanently boost Mass Heal. The Epic Green Blade (Potency IX 20%), Epic Chainmail Coif (Devotion IX 20%), and the Epic Vulkoorim Pendant (Devotion IX 20%).

The Epic Dragon Eye has 3 charges of 1 minute clickies to give a 50% boost to all level 1-9 spells; and the Xachosian Eardweller will also boost your healing power, but only for a short time.

No. The top Ardor clickies (Amara's and Tokala's Belts from Amrath) provide a 75% boost to healing power of level 1 through 8 spells, rather than 50% that you can get from Potency or Devotion. They said 50% for a long time (and may still do), but they actually provide a 75% boost. Those clickies (3 charges of 3 minutes each) are preferred for high end healing tasks. It's still a good idea to have a good Potency or Devotion item equipped, so you don't lose massive healing power when recovering from a death, or times when the action is too intense to do a belt swap to activate a clickie.

Ardor pots only go to Greater Ardor V, IIRC. Most raid healing spells are 6+

I think you are right on pots. As for clickies, Tokala's Belt and Amara's Belt are Superior Ardor VIII

Superior Ardor V would be fine for single target cure spells and CLW, mass, but wouldn't help for Heal. I think the point is: get Greater/Superior Ardor VI to boost Heal (great for healing tanks, especially in ToD and VoD) for healing 6-man quests, and then look to get Amara's and Tokala's belts from Amrath for Superior Ardor VII for boosting Cure Light, Mass; Cure Serious, Mass; and Cure Critical, Mass which will improve your ability to heal raid parties.

    Thanks everyone. Great information.

I was definitely thinking of the Empower and Maxamize feats as far as the Heal spell goes.

    Thanks again!

Only empower healing affects the heal spell.
empower and maximize only work on cure spells.
