No, the "safe spots" are still there. Just start on the righthand side right inside the lightning arc and alternate sides as you disable.

The other night in the Shroud, my wiz/rogue had the highest reflex save of anyone in the group, along with 100% heal scroll usage, so I was volunteered to solo the fire ele. I didn't mind, it felt like I was piking part 2.

as for having 6 ppl in group - well DND is SUPPOSED to be a social game - i DO solo a bit, but its much more fun when i pug - remember grease is a party buff and adds to loot chance on chests
The only thing I generally semi-require / hold off on is a rogue for certain quests, but make no mistake, it has nothing to do with being uber, I just like having random group composition because it sometimes forces people to invest in dynamic tactics and experimentation instead of a mindless grind where everyone 'knows their role'. It's pretty much up there with nekid runs on my personal fun factor chart. (Power point presentation available on demand)

As to the social aspect... well, I don't want to brag, but I've been getting pretty close to Larafay Do'rret. I think she digs me, she follows me around everywhere when we're not in town.
Remember the little people, if for no other reason than to better savor the squishy sound they make as you roll over them.

I almost feel dirty saying that, but Larafay is an awesome hireling. Put her on active and every mob is on their ass with comet fall and greater command.

You should wear your Neg Rep like a badge... a big shiny badge that you have to put away to make room for their soul stone while you try to recall where the nearest lava pit is.

Finally flagged myself, took me roughly 2min to get all the traps north. Plenty safe spots to avoid the traps and when I got into them cause of a bad move on my part I evaded so eh. wiz/rog FTW I guess!

update: Tried elite, electric traps are a lot more painful, but can be done with practice. Still had no trouble searching/disabling.

I have personally found that those traps and using the "safe" spots in Von5 are more dependant on the movement skills of the goob using the controls in Real World (mouse/keyboard) as opposed to the abilities and skills of the character than almost any other location in the game I can think of.

My third life 12 rgr/6 ftr/2 rog with maxed disable/search and a variety of items/tools to increase trap DC - the one who has yet to blow a trap anywhere, was declined for a hard VoD cuz the leader wanted a pure rogue to get the traps.

I wished him well and found a group more to my liking. Pulled a Scroll of the Epic something or other in ePartycrashers, I think. Oh, and got all the traps, too.
