Cool New D&D game release date announced!

Dungeons & Dragons: Daggerdale will be soon available for PC and X-box as Atari said on his official facebook page:

"The official release date on Dungeons & Dragons Daggerdale is Wednesday 5/25 for Xbox Live Arcade and PC-DVD (5/31 for Playstation Network). Make sure you check out the official Dungeons & Dragons: Daggerdale Facebook page to be in the loop of all things Daggerdale."

This the first 4e game out?
I guess the quality of this will be a good judge for:
If 4e actually makes a decent video game to begin with
    And
If Neverwinter (assuming it's still coming out) has any hope at all.

Pretty much this. I'm hoping 4e will be good in a vidya game environment (since this is pretty much what it's designed for), because if it isn't it has nothing left to it :P

    Daggerdale?

    sigh.. Unoriginal name is unoriginal....

Exec #1: "Maybe if we name it Dagger in the title, people will think Bethesda made it!"

Exec #2: "no wait, we need "Dale" in the name... Everyone loved Icewind Dale!"

    Default Blasphemey!!!!!

I find this amusing, especially considering all the BS that Turbine has gone through with Atari back in the day with DDO. What a lot of the 'newer' people to DDO may not realize is that initially DDO was published by Atari, but due to Atari's unwillingness to provide advertising support, etc. Turbine has gone 'solo' on the project (which was both a bold and lucritive move IMO).

That being said, even with the game carrying a D&D title. I already see similar issues with the advertising as previously mentioned. Personally I hadn't even heard of it until this thread (thanks for providing it btw). The game looks like a mashed together attempt at Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance the only true props I can foresee giving it without at least making an attempt at the game itself is using the Forgotten Realms setting. I wonder how much of Faerun you actually will get to see?

I took a quick look at the game site with the link provided and am seeing a lot of the same old same old that Atari seems to wrap all of their D&D based games around (limited character choices, poor customization, and the sub-par ruleset adaptation). Granted, I won't deny that I will probably try it out anyway

I hope it is worth the $15 they are supposedly selling it for
I believe in mind over matter. If I don't mind, it doesn't matter.

    Sarlona! Yep, back again.

I haven't heard of this game until this thread too.

I really wish the game would be a party dungeon crawl ala BG/Icewind Dale instead of the first-player type like NWN and DDO currently.

Not "everyone" loved IWD. I do, and personally ranked it above BG, but everyone I know played and loved BG. IWD has always been seen as some red-headed stepchild.

So is this game a one-player only game?
I know it says you 'CAN' play is with up to 3 friends, but basically it is you playing on your computer, right?
It is not played on the internet is it?

2 players mode with split screen offline

    4 players mode fullscreen online

Platforms: PC, X box and Playstation network (game provided via digital download).

This could be a huge game if it was cross-platform compatible. Like i play with my PC with friends on playstation or x-box version. Too bad it won't be that way.

I'm probably jumping the gun, having only seen one video, but: Great, just what the genre needs: another Us vs. Undead snoozefest. There ARE other monsters in the d&d universe...

Its you against the computer yes. It is multiplayer online game yes, though you wont find 1000 people in their version of the marketplace though.

DDO, step your game up, now. Squash them before they have a chance.

this game isn't remotely threatening to DDO. 4th edition D&D feels like pretty much every other MMO on the market, while DDO is pretty much the only one i've ever played that feels particularly different.

the only thing that might sell this as a D&D game really is if it had a rich setting... too bad 4th edition means that they pretty much blew up the entire forgotten realms. i can only imagine how that meeting went... dev1: "hey guys, we have this hugely popular setting that tons of people love. I've got a great idea! we should completely destroy the setting, advance the timeline 100 years so that nobody feels connected to it anymore, and change it all completely!" dev2: "oh yeah, i can't possibly imagine how that could go horribly wrong! let's do it!"

(mind you, i am not a terribly large fan of forgotten realms anyways, but that doesn't mean i don't feel for the people who liked their setting and didn't want it to be destroyed...)

When they do work with Keith Baker, exactly how did Turbine destroy this setting?

It's not FR thus it's destroyed by default and NOT TRUE D&D is what he means, I reckon.

Methinks he should play some Greyhawk.

    Holy Zero-Advertising Budget Batman!

First I've heard of it as well.
Truly, this sounds like a... 'well, we have some left over code from... um... well, don't we still have some D&D IP?'

Sadly, I'll still probably pick it up... in hopes that DaggerDale: TuTu will follow.

Once I read the party size would only be FOUR MAX I was done. For a game released 6 years after DDO I expected a little better than that.

The forums are loaded with fans crying for Atari to promote it. As Yogi Berra famously said once, "Deja vu, all over again." Atari PREYS on gamers that dont know a thing about history, especially Atari's OWN HISTORY.

My favorite part of the "promo video" is at the bottom of the credits. The year listed is 2010. It's MAY 2011!! 5 MONTHS LATER and this ONE MINUTE, NINE SECOND free handout video seems to be the ONLY PROMOTION Atari has done.

Walk right by this one folks, its a

    Dead Man Walking.

Besides this^, I blame Atari for the sad fate the European servers had...

I haven't seen the game but the fact that it comes from Atari () and it is 4ed makes not want to touch it with a 10-ft pole!..

I don't think I'll even try it! The D&D MMO is this one!
