lil' Monk help

I've been meaning to try a monk for a while now, but healers and bards are more my thing so I really don't know what I'm doing here. I've been trying to branch out a bit lately (ranger, barb, freshly tr'd rogue) and it's time for a monk.
Can any helpful soul point me in the direction of a good guide or pre-made solid builds that i could basically steal?

google search for "ddo monk build" and you'll find a bunch.

The way I look at it is you've got 2 choices: light/dark. Light gives you boss beater hands, so all you need is some holy/pure good handwraps and your set. Dark means you'll be farming the Devout Handwraps to bypass boss DR. But, as a dark monk you can use short swords and get some metalline/holy or like I did, cold-iron-silver/good, for demon-devil beaters. (I don't use Kamas but plan to get some for slash trash).

Dex/Wis, Str/... build examples are easily found by searching.

I was just looking to find a nice guide that breaks down the relative worth of starting stats and various paths. I would like to get a really good grasp of the mechanics of how they work first. There are some nice guides written for rogues and such, from which I plagiarized severely, that clearly lay out the relative dps for each weapon etc etc, so perhaps someone has taken the time to outline all that for monks.
