    Default Null Reference Exception

Hi, trying to reinstall the game.

Have Windows Vista installed, have patched it all the way up, checked to make sure it has .net framework up to speed etc.

    I get this error:

    "Null Reference Exception"

Object reference not set to an instance of object

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
    at com.turbine.launcher.UserControls.InstallFileInfo. .ctor(XmlNode fileNode)
    at com.turbine.launcher.UserControls.PrereqInstallCon trol.GetInstallFiles(String url)

    Any ideas?

I had the same error just a while ago while trying to update my client. I haven't updated for a long time, and got stuck trying to download the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package. I download it from this link: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en...ang=en&id=5638 then installed it. When I launched the client again got the same error but the update of the launcher was able to proceed. It will update the launcher and the error is gone.

There's a thread with a similar error, but it's with regard to the Lamannia server client:

Not sure if it would be useful to you or not, but you might get some ideas from it.

I think I saw an old thread about this error on the regular DDO client. If I remember correctly, they ended up uninstalling all .NET Framework versions from their computer. Then they manually installed each .NET Framework package (1.1, 2.0, 3.5, 4.0), and then ran Windows Update to patch them all.
