I still remember awhile back when a few harpers joined a reaver pug. This husband and wife duo dropped group because the husband didn't allow the wife to play with Harpers. HAH I still laugh to this day about that.

That's the guild I thought was being referred to. I personally give everyone a chance for "normal" quests/runs, and have seen a few good players in that guild. However, a large majority of the members are as mentioned, and like it or not, people will associate such builds/behaviour with each player.

If I am doing a simple raid or quest and have a good base, i will bring 1 along. But if I am doing anything where them goofing off/not listening/messing up a quest/raid objective despite being told otherwise will cost the healers/casters money, I will not bring them.

The op said he was disallowed from joining a raid because of his guild. He even showed the leader that he had what was expected but was still denied. Sure, he may be in a crappy guild. But does that mean he shouldn't be allowed to prove himself a rose among thorns?

With this guild, the gear does not matter, as I say above for me it is more their actions.

Plus I will add that I have wondered if this is a guild of perhaps "special" people, as many of them talk or type non stop about nonsical stuff, making it virtually impossible as a leader to give directions to a group of newer people--unless you get everyone to squelch.

The burden of leading gets tiresome. While I think its foolish to not learn new strategies and instead waiting in an LFM for 45 mins for the "perfect" group, I think it's equally foolish to bring people from a guild that plain make the task of leading hard to do. I don't myddo, I dont care what HP or gear someone has, but, when 99% of my interaction with a guild has been bad, and made my job as a leader a PITA, then I avoid them as not to waste mine or anyone elses time.
