Exclamation Bind spirit to guild ship

I cannot take credit for this idea as it was suggested while running a pug the other day by one of the members I was running with and I thought they were on to something... So, how about it might be nice if you could bind to your guild ship in lieu of a tavern.

The only thing I could see is, what happens if you leave / are made to leave the guild?

The most efficient bind point for ship use I have found in the meantime is the spirit binder in the Twelve. Not my idea, a guildie's suggestion, but it works very well.

I, personally, believe the goal is to NOT die, rather than to make it easier on those that do.

    I like it.

If your bind point is on a guild airship that you are no longer a part of, you just get sent back to the airship tower in the marketplace, just as if you made a new character and never bound him in Korthos.

Yeah, i think this would be cumbersome in the scenario of someone booted from guild, but as said above - just bind to the Twelve and then you are right by the guild portal.

The problem that I see is that if noone has been on your guild ship for 5 minutes, it doesn't exist to go back to. This may easily cause major programming headaches, but I too would like to see it if it IS possible.

If you are no longer in the guild, you can have them spawn at the top of the airship tower in the Marketplace, like a veteran who has not reassigned their bind point would.

I'm willing to bet the reason we cannot do this is due to coding problems due to our guild-ships being temporary instances, and taverns being permanent ones. Otherwise, I cannot imagine Turbine would have passed up a guaranteed money maker like Gold Seal spirit binders.

    Ok, lets think of this...

The spirit binder would most likely be a ship ammentity that would have to be bound to an anchor point onboard. This would have a time limit and potentially be movable. This would mean that its possible that at a given point its just not there or possibly a new ship/arrangement, now what? Also means calculating the new binding point when it is moved and for each ship. This could be resolved by using the current Entry point of each ship for this case

And another issue - non-guild members setting their bind points to the Guild ship spirit binder? This would have to be part of the logic as well... Prevent? or Deal with non-guildees getting aboard uninvited?

Currently all spirit binding points are static and as Tere pointed out for Guild Ship quick entry the closest binding point is at the campfire in the twelve and its barely 10 steps and a loading screen away.

I can see that. What if the spirit binder bound you to the entrance to an airship tower? It would mean an extra click, but it would deposit you closer to the airship than any tavern I am aware of.

Alternatively have a gold seal item (probably a crew slot) with a Lyrandar Patron in the tavern that sends you to the airship if you have it on your ship?

Bind in the Twelve, it's only a dozen or so strides to get to the tower there.

I think that adding an airship patron to Taverns, one that would have to check to see if you've purchased the rights to use them or not, is not a bad idea - but one that would likely be fairly complicated to code.
