every named item and effect should has its own icon

This is an annoying thing in DDO, imo.

All belts drop from Amarath quests share the same icon. So does those necklaces.

Spell boost effects share the same icon with spells. (ex: Superior Freeze shares the same icon with Ice Storm. Superior Ardor shares the same icon with Heal).

The arcane spell Jump shares the same icon with FvS's Leap of Faith.

Tons of named gears share the same icon.

Lots of effects share the same icon or even no icon (an exclamation mark).

......

This really should not happen in a quality game.

To me, it is a flaw, or even a sign of carelessness of development.

Developers, you were able to create hundreds of collectable icons. Please give every named item and effect an unique icon as well.

Although it is not a bug which causes lag or crash, it decreases the quality of the game and is one of the reason that this game isn't perfect.

I've always wondered why they didn't.

It was one of my favorite things about Turbine's other game, Asheron's Call. Every single item, even the most mundane quest thingamabobs, had its own unique icon. There must've been like 30,000 or more.

Every time I log on here I sift through my inventory wondering which goggles & other items were the ones I wanted to wear.

But seriously: It would absolutely be nice if all named items had unique icons, but that's all: just "nice."

Considering the amount of work it would require (thousands of new images), I'd be much happier if the staff time were spent on art for new content instead.

There has only been one time that the same icon for everything actually affected me. That one time was switching to my Boots of Anchoring, where I accidentally switched to a pair of boots that had the same exact icon. Other than that, I really don't care for icons.

here's a thought, everyone that has some computer graphic skills pick a named item with a generic icon and create a unique icon for it. upload the icon, listing the item it goes with. we vote on the best icon for each item and Turbine ports that icon into the game at the next patch or update. this should require very little Dev time to do and make a few people very happy.

Those are the two pairs of boots my monk carries......get em mixed up all the time. Although usually it's forget im wearing the Anchoring and wondering why i'm not getting hasted in Shroud.

I don't see it as an issue so much as another sign of lack of polish. Considering the years old bugs in game and the increase in frequency of game crashes I would say on the list of things that make the game look shabby that one is not top of the list.

Uh I get boots with those icons mixed up all the time. It got so bad that I had to unify the location of my boots of anchoring on my hotbars across all my toons so I didn't do it anymore.

Not just items but buffs as well...

Rage comes to mind. My mains most recent tr is a barb and all the rages look very similar if not outright the same... couple that with my wife playing a warchanter and I have no idea which "rage" is what anymore.

I have to agree with what some others have posted though. It would be a lower priority on my list compared to other things I would like to see.

I had a hard time with many boots too!

Always bad when you need the FF ones right away and accidentally hit the striding ones!
