Questions about max sorc caster levels

As far as I understand it, since update 9 Polar Ray now caps at lvl 25, other secondary damage spells at lvl 20.

Since the ToD cold savant set increases this by 2, the max possible is 22 or 27... Now having cold savant III increases the caster level by 6, so all spells are capped except Polar Ray.

So getting the epic abashai set from 3 items easily caps all your spells.

Is it possible to get a higher cap? I know it is possible to get caster levels up to 30 quite easily with the abashai set and the new robe (called Chaosrobe?) but if everything caps at 27 is this worth it?

The only increase I can see being worthwhile for is to re-bump the levels of your opposing element, in my case this would bump fire resist up a few more minutes.

You missed that the Savant lines increase the cap on spells by 3- so for a Water Savant, Polar Ray caps at 30 and your other high-level spells at 25 assuming you have the ToD set- 28/23 otherwise. Even with the set, the +6 to CL granted by Savant means Polar Ray is the only offensive spell that gets any benefit from CL increases since all your other spells have hit the cap anyway.

Nice one, I didn't know the savant increases the cap too. That'll teach me to not read descriptions

So the 3 abishai set and the new robe max it, good to know.
