Warning: This is a story of my dream/suggestion, they are not real.

I hate clickies and scrolls. The reason is simple. It's because I hate to swap my gears. I always forget to swap back gears after using clickies/scrolls. It's ok if I was going to use swapped gears for a while, but swapping gears temporarily just to use their charges is annoying. DDO is an action game, but swapping a gear and clicking then swapping back makes me feel like playing house.
And, currently DDO client has an issue with gear swapping. If your client runs long enough for like 2 hours, swapping gears will induce an insane client-side lag. Spells that affect your skills/saves/status can cause the same lag too. (e.g. Greater Heroism)

So I suggest to make clickies/scrolls 1-click. All I want to do is:
1) Click a gear with charges or a stack of scrolls on a shortcut
2) Charge on the clicky instantly carried out without equipping it
Simple, easy and comfortable isn't it?

But, what if you want to equip it instead of carrying out its charges?
I have an idea. Add a "Property" window which opens when you right-click on a shortcut.
Like this:

The property window has "Option:" line. You can specify some options here to control behavior of the shortcut.
Put "/insta" to make the shortcut "InstaClicky" rather than equipping it.
If you didn't specify any option, the shortcut works as is atm - you simply equip it, and if you have it already equipped you carry out a charge.
You can drag & drop items, scrolls, spells etc on the box by "Edit Shortcut" string to edit the content of the shortcut.
The window has another option to change an icon graphic of the shortcut, but it's not my point here, just a useful flavor.

Some things to remember:

  • UMD check etc should be performed when using instaclicky/instascroll
  • Because you can use scrolls without giving up weapons slot, Stave of the Seer (a quarterstaff with UMD +5) could be too powerful.
  • Don't forget to suppress the property window from opening when you set this option:

That's all, thanks for reading. Have a nice day.
