    Default Build (im new)

This is my first time playing this game. Me and my 2 other friends are starting to play it.
Im a cleric, one friend is a barbarian and another is a ranger.

I was just wondering if these ability points looked alright
    14 Str
    12 Dex
    12 Con
    10 Int
    16 Wis
    10 Cha

were only like 2 quests into the game so i can make a new character if necessary.

    Welcome to the game

I would skip the Dexterity. Since you're new, thus understandibly not geared, your AC will suck after level 5 :P, your reflex save will be bad, so no need to boost it with 2 points (which is 4 build points).
Higher the Con, a dead cleric is not going to heal anyone, more HP and also extra concentration
Higher the Cha, it will give you som more bursts (PrE)
Lowered Int, go human and you will still have 2 Skill points for Concentration and ...Diplomacy? (dont take the skill Heal )

    I would go like this:

    12 STR
    8 DEX
    14 CON (16)
    8 INT
    17 WIS (16)
    13 CHA (12)

Between brackets: more HP, which is always great. Plus, since you wont get exceptional abilityscores any time soon, even numbers are generally more usefull to start with.
Lowered strength, but that is your choice if you want to go a bit melee DPS as well... guess not though, coz you would need some enhancements for that, that require a high Cha.

Come to think of it... I would use the 16 CON; 16 WIS; 12 CHA thing, just for the sake of hitpoints

Good luck, dont be afraid to ask things ingame, and have fun!

To give you any hints it would be nice to know what race you want to play. And if you want to use other spells then healing and buffing at higher levels.

Have a look at sirgog's cleric build guide; also check the builds in tihocan's thread and my own battle clerics (in my sig). All that info can be rather overwhelming for a first-timer, so a couple of questions to help guide you to the right build for you:

    • Pure or multiclassed? Pure cleric is best if you want to focus solely on spellcasting; MCing a cleric is usually about adding extra abilities, like melee feats or other skills.
    • Caster-focused or melee-focused? A cleric who is focused on offensive spells will usually stay pure, goes for max WIS, and concentrates on metamagic feats to boost their spell casting. On the flip side are battle clerics who focus on melee DPS: high STR & plenty of melee feats, with just enough WIS & metamagics for basic spell casting. There are plenty of cleric builds which fall somewhere in between the two: e.g., the human build in my BC thread gives up a bit of offensive casting for some melee, but is still primarily spell-focused.

There are lots of cleric builds out there because there's no one cleric who's right for everybody; it largely depends on what you want to be able to do.
